Is a Xeon w3550 worth 35 bucks? There is one for sale on craigslist in my area. Could I use this as a cheap gaming cpu? and one more question, what kind of motherboard supports it, any LGA 1366? Thanks.

Why not go for an Xeon E3-1231V3, similar cost to an i5 but it has hyperthreading good for editing. -
I lost the lottery

My fx 6300 is at 4.5GHz at 1.4325V on my 212 evo, I get temps at around 72-80c load. Terrible oc in my opinion. -
No it will not bottleneck, and it should much be better than the 8350 at gaming.

xeon for gaming
Cannibal Mongoose replied to george the lemon's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
The Xeon E3-1231V3 is basically an i7 but locked, so yes they are good for gaming. -
I'd get a r9 280x, it's a better deal than the 960 and if you can, take the cash. Since you can generally find better deals online.

What's the weirdest thing about your PC?
Cannibal Mongoose replied to NeatSquidYT's topic in General Discussion
My network adapter does not agree with my pc. -
Wow with the i7 5820k I would definetly use it for editing as I recently started a YouTube channel and it would be awesome for rendering. This is an awesome giveaway thanks http://linustechtips.com/main/user/80319-nicklmg/ and intel!

Wow I think the 750w psu is my favorite. I could definitely make a nice build out of these parts. Thanks for the giveaway Antec!

Yes I should have stated this before, my budget is around $200. Yes I should have stated this before, my budget is around $200. Not sure if I can afford even an i5, my budget is no higher than $200.

I have an older computer that I plan to use for Photoshop and video editing. At the moment it's complete junk running on integrated graphics, but in the near future I'll put my old 5670 and 400w psu in her, I also have 4gb of ram from another leftover system. Now all I need is a new CPU and motherboard (microcenter has good processor motherboard bundles) Any ideas?

These coolers look amazing if you don't plan to sli, I like the power performance ratio of the 900 series and it sure beats my Radeon 5670!
