    How you dare!

If this story, and to some extent this thread, have shown something, is how how arrogant software developers (as it happens with designers in the same/other industries) can't cope with the idea that users of their software may have quite a bit of knowledge of what using the software they write is like.

To be honest, it does explain many things about the software we get...

On a similar issue, I'd like to point out how theres an Indie tablet game I absolutely love and thats also coming to steam soon.

Soon as I started playing it, I joined in the subreddit for it with my usual 'Wow, this game is incredible, why doesnt it have more fans yet?'. I was the most vocal and enthusiastic poster about said game, and its being developed by just one person like a lot of indie games.

The developer immediately began replying to my comments with kindness, and actually started asking me for gameplay advice. Lots, in fact maybe everything I've suggested to him are now, or will be upcoming features in the game, e.g:

    - Save game option for endless mode

    - Transferring saved game / progress between mobile and steam

    - Keyboard bindings for skills / speed up buttons on PC that are simply touch buttons on mobile

    - Nerfs to the most powerful tower, and 'air units only' mode being far too easy being fixed by adding enemy fliers that land on and disable towers

Mainly just QOL improvements to make the game more enjoyable to play.

More recently the dev came back to me and sent me a free steam code for the game just for being the most active person on the subreddit for it, which actually only costs £4 anyway:

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/881520/Geometry_Defense_Infinite/

Now I'm waiting to be able to transfer my mobile save to steam as otherwise its too much grind to regain my progress (massive tech tree, dont really want to grind it all again).

This is how you handle customer service, not instead by calling fans 'rando asshats' for leaving feedback and suggestions.

Edit - A steamy hot NSFW (now nerfed) Railgun porno (please dont be offended, this was just a meme I shared on the games subreddit that led to their nerfage).

Maybe I'm blind... But where are the original Tweets that started this? It looks like his original tweet has since been deleted, as well as a couple of her immediate responses.

I cannot find the initial posts from either party. So I have a hard time "conforming" to either side because the information isn't freely available anymore.

And I do agree, this is pretty stupid. Social media interactions do have recourse. You MAY not be on the clock, but the way you behave reflects on your company. And it works both ways. The initial statement or the response.

    I posted them.

  3. The only thing that needs saying about her is that the kindest thing that she could say about a man dying from Cancer is that she was glad it happened:

    Nc2NuFt.png

If she was in the UK, she would be considered unemployable by everyone, and likely jailed for hate speech for that alone.

I dont see how anyone can have the slightest sympathy for someone as toxic as this, she clearly deserved being fired, and anyone that would hire her for any kind of job after this is just as bad as her.

  4. ... Without a fan:

    ZcADn3Z.jpg

Also there were an additional 20 loops already done prior to these, and the CPU and Ram tests were done separately.

(My ram is boosted to just 1.35, and my H170 mobo allows limited ram OCing up to the XMP frequency only, but then voltage and timings controll as normal).

The only fan inside is the PSU fan, and unfortunately it doesnt have a fanless mode on low power use, but its silent anyway. My 200mm case fan is also silent and keeps my max temp at 48c on this CPU, and I'll be plugging it back in anyway, just tried stressing fanless for fun.

*Note that the AIO is an Antec Kuhler 620 that I've already had sat collecting dust for ages, I didnt sell it because the Intel backplate snapped when I previously removed it, but it still installs and works fine, just that the corners of the backplate are no longer fully connected.

If healthy eating is more effort than buying canned/frozen fruit in juice (for cans), bananas and a bag of apples, then booze up by all means as far as I'm concerned you don't actually take much consideration towards your health anyways. I also never dismissed small amount of wine is bad, but the issues with beer vs the benefits are something I can't tell someone to take it up for, ever. For other drinks I know a few have benefits but to me they are too pricey to justify vs other sources. Seriously is it that hard to throw in frozen berries, mangos peaches or other fruits into a blender then throwing that blender into a dishwasher?

Any reputable media source would at least attempt to put their sources or at least the agency who did them... Anything less than that to me is either unreliable possibly misleading or at the very least downright sloppy journalism. I don't need legitimate sources as to why I shouldn't start drinking, because no legitimate source will be dumb enough to encourage people to drink. This is because people are stupid, they will skip lines possibly going so as to go out buy a 12 pack and consume the whole thing then drive home possibly killing someone (or many) in the process.

You go find me a source from a reputable agency USA/EU/Canada that states those over 25 should drink to promote health because there is no other source.

Or maybe not enough to become used to it yet.

Getting frozen food from the store to your freezer is an even bigger challenge than counting nutrients and making sure you have enough of everything, when all you have to instead is pop vitamin pills and eat anything you like.

Also tinned vegetarian foods are often filled with additional syrup / juice / sugars / preservatives / salt. I wouldnt ever call food that comes in a can healthy.

A can of peaches with HFCS as its top ingredient isnt healthy. Then some fruits like mangos, pineapples, watermelons are simply a challenge for a lot of people to get back home from the supermarket, especially so if you have medical reasons that prevent you from driving / lifting / carrying as I do.

And shopping online isnt ever a solution to this as you never get end of day reductions online to save up to 90%+ on your groceries.

Honestly, I would rather not be in a room full of either.  But, from experience, Stoners aren't as bad as alcoholics.  So, I can agree on that point.

And I wouldn't want to be in a room full of anyone unless I was on drugs to make other people more bearable.

You're only partially correct. Yes, having personal experience with some of these substances does have merit. But we can all look at peer reviewed research (assuming said research exists) to come to concrete conclusions.

Unfortunately, many of these substances lacks good quality research.

But youre still only partially correct about your partial part.

9/10 anti druggos aren't reading any such material and are just jumping to conclusions based on the latest alcoholic to feature in the daily mail.

The problem is that someone using an addictive substance of any kind aren't exactly a reliable source on if they're an addict or not, let alone the people close to them, because an addict is very unlikely to claim that they are an addict.  It's the same thing with an insane person.  They won't see themselves that way when they really are.  I'm not saying these people are or aren't drunks I'm just saying they're unlikely to view it from an unbiased viewpoint let alone people who know them.  You also don't need to be abusing it for years for it to be addictive as there are many other factors that contradict that.

    Exactly

Likewise people who dont take addictive substances of any kind arent exactly a reliable source of information on addictive substances as they have zero experience of them, and they are mostly brainwashed into the anti drug hysteria by the media.

The problem is that, with alcohol, you have more people using health benefits as an excuse to drink more.  Yes, there are people who do drink in moderations, but there are more people using it as an excuse.  Very common one, "I can drink all the wine I want because it is good for my heart."  That the problem with addictive substances.

I have zero experiences of ever meeting any such person, and 99.9% of people I've met drink alcohol.

I also don't agree with the basic idea that 'alcohol is an addictive substance'.

For it to get addictive, you need to already be abusing it for years. It has zero properties that make it immediately addicting or dependency inducing at the recommended weekly limits.

  10. The vast majority of people who start drinking alcohol are able to drink it responsibly throughout the rest of their lives.

If everyone that ever took a sip of beer ended up being addicted and being drunk all the time, the whole of every society would collapse.

Red wine mostly if I remember correctly.

Ummm mostly red wine... The others are able to be beneficial other way w/o drinking crap.

I wouldn't trust a site who can't be arsed to quote their sources.

But as mentioned previously, if you don't drink you can get everything threw healthy eating.

Subjective to size and weight of a person ;) In situations like this sometimes less is more.

We weren't addressing 'mostly wine', but rather 'just wine'.

Yes beer does have health benefits, in small quantities.

Healthy eating takes far more effort than most people are willing to put into it to, the point however was that dismissing the idea that small amounts of alcohol are simply and always still bad for you.

Also if youre not going to trust anything without sources, in that case then wheres your legitimate source on why you simply shouldn't start drinking if you already dont, and what are the (valid) reasons not to?

    Wasn't it just wine though?

    Not really:

Also I will never agree with or understand anti drug rhetorics, when they lead to medicinal cannabis being seized at airports, and doctors being over ridden even if they needed to prescribe it and it worked:

as long as you are done developing in terms of Brain structure (roughly the age of 22) weed is essentially harmless. Think of it as alcohol except you do not damage your liver. but like alcohol, its not the greatest idea to be drunk or high 24/7.

The age here is also highly controversial. You can legally drink alcohol from the age of 16 in the UK and most European countries if accompanied with a meal and bought by an adult, and with no restriction from 18.

Yet the USA where you can't legally drink until 21 still has far lower average IQ scores compared to Europe. Most people I knew from school / uni started drinking very early in their teens from around age 12 or so, often with parental permission with no negative impact on their mental development, and they still went all the way up to post graduate education and work. In fact not drinking by the age of 18 in the UK is almost like a huge social faux pas, not that I agree with that part but it would be incredibly difficult to cope with British culture as a young adult and a teetotaler.

carbs is carbs. In any form. You think starch is less harmful than sugar? LOL They both get broken down to the same thing inside our body and excess of any of them causes same harm.

First of all, starch is broken down into only glucose.

Table sugar (sucrose) is broken down into glucose and fructose.

The body is unable to metabolize fructose, which is converted into glycogen and stored as fat, and is only then converted into glucose if your blood glucose level is low.

Even worse is high fructose corn syrup = nothing but instant fat gain.

  15. 3 minutes ago, avg123 said:

No its not. We need carbs to stay alive. Excess sugar is bad. We dont need weed in any quantity.

We don't need sugar in quantity either, we have starch for that.

Well, I did buy some nuts

They're delicious after roasting and maybe salting if that's your thing. Kudos if any of you can name the exact variety of nuts.

Redskin peanuts, mumsie buys and salts them by the bagful.

I prefer them and everything else unsalted too, I could munch through a bag of raw red nuts in no time, but darn too much saturated fat in them.

  17. Stupid fucking 3 mobile:

    bh4jwe4.png

(click / zoom to read the bottom 'actual' price).

Note that the '*Additional charge' is the '£0 one-off charge*' in the order invoice, not a 'current monthly cost of £32'.

Already called them and sent them the images to their proofs email address, they told me the £32 was the normal price on this tariff but believed I would have been offered it for £19 because my previous tariff was £16 for ayce mins and texts for £16, and it also always had an option to add on ayce for £5 bringing it to £21 pm.

Gotta shop through existing customer offers and cancel your previous contract to end up with such offers - 1 year for new customer and 1 year for existing customer offer at least, then you might get offered something like this.

  18. IMO I'd rate it a 0/10 for how bad it is given that everything I've read and seen about people who take weed still aren't even 10% as bad as my various uncurable illnesses make me.

Fun fact - When I initially went to a GP to complain of excessive drowsiness / fatigue, I got accused of smoking weed right away. Around 10 years later and they still wouldnt allow me to have Modafilin because to get that prescribed in the UK you have literally be passing out / losing consciousness during the day.

And now I need to come off my SNRIs because I have a recently diagnosed heart condition. I have my next psych appointment in July and am going to do a major push for either or both Modafilin / Buproprion instead, if they dont afftect the heart rate that is which I'm guessing they probably do anyway.
