  1. There's a free spin-off of Ark call "Ark: Survival of the fittest" no one plays it but it'll let you see what kind of framerates and setting your rig can get without having to pay anything
  2. Alright so all my computer's usb 3.0 ports and audio jacks (on the front and back of the case) have stopped working, as in when I plug something into them nothing registers (it doesn't register in windows, asus bios, or linux running off a CD), the usb 2.0 ports on both the front and back of the case still work, however. I've tried everything google and the LTT forums suggested to see if it's a software problem and I can pretty safely assume that it's not that. So I'm thinking it's a faulty component that I'll have to replace, my guess is the motherboard. My question is: if you were in my situation what would you do, would you replace the motherboard? Or could it be a different component? Thanks in advance neighborinos
  3. Sounds like your GPU might be overheating(?) It's a shot in the dark but that's my guess. Try running a stress test and monitoring the GPU temps and performance to make sure everything is normal on that front
  4. This might be helpful I only gave it a skim read but if your friend's phone supports something like this then I reckon it'd be worth a shot since a cable would be cheaper than a screen replacement. Alternatively if most of the phone's data is on an inserted micro-SD card then you can just remove that and it's GG (you've probably already checked that but hey I figured I'd mention it just in case)
  5. As the title suggests. Plugging anything into the usb 3.0 or audio ports (on the front or back IO panel) does absolutely nothing, Realtek Audio doesn't recognize any input and neither does Windows. They've worked fine for almost 2 years but all of a sudden they're bricked. All the usb 2.0 ports still work fine so I'm guessing it's something to do with the drivers. Here's what I've tried: Checking all relevant cables from the front panel are still properly connected to the motherboard (the back IO is part of the motherboard) Updating all audio, motherboard and usb drivers to the latest versions Reverting all audio, motherboard and usb drivers to the versions I got in the motherboard box Googling it Praying to Gaben All of them have given the same result: nothing If anyone has ideas as to what could be going wrong and how I could solve it I'd greatly appreciate it, thanks
  6. Sounds like a great system to me, if you wanted more storage it might be worth looking into seagate SSHD's which use solid state and hard disk to store data, so you get more storage for cheaper but still super fast boots. Although my SSHD just failed which has been causing me a lot of problems, hopefully I'm a rare case.
  7. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335 That should help you verify the cache. Other than that maybe try running as administrator or reinstalling? AC Rogue ran great for me and I have an R9 270x so it's probably something to do with corrupted game data which verifying should solve.
  8. I took a Hard Drive out of an old laptop and used that instead and everything seems to run fine off that, so I'm thinking the Hard Drive is stuffed. I'll try and give it a fix and if not I guess I'll have to contact Seagate...
  9. Hello helpful internet people, So in the space of a few days my pride and joy (Windows 10) desktop has suddenly gone from booting in 30 seconds and opening applications almost immediately to booting in five minutes and taking about ten minutes to even open something like the task manager (if it manages to load it at all). Simple things like accessing the start menu or typing in a text box will either not register at all or give me a loading wheel for a few minutes before registering. So now the thing is basically unusable and I have no idea what's causing it, I couldn't even open chrome to access this forum so I had to go to my laptop. Here's what I've checked/tried so far Full antivirus scans with Avast and Windows Defender found nothing Task manager shows CPU and RAM usage as normal (Asus) motherboard BIOS shows CPU temps, voltage and fan speeds as normal I made sure the hard drive (a Seagate SSHD) wasn't fragmented or anything Windows memory diagnostics found nothing wrong I booted in Safe Mode but the problem was still there I opened up the case up to check all the connections and clean it out but everything seemed fine I then completely wiped the Hard Drive and reinstalled Windows 10 which temporarily fixed the problem but a day later it started slowing down again and now I'm back to square one. There isn't a single component over two years old so I'm at a loss. If anyone has any ideas as to what could be going wrong (be it hardware or software) and how I would check for that I would massively appreciate it, cheers!
  10. Ok I'll go for that, cheers guys
  11. Hello helpful people of the internet, I just built my first PC and it works fine except the image displayed on the monitor is too small for the screen. My whole operating system and the like comes up on the screen, but it's sits in the centre and leaves about an inch of black space between it and the edge of the display. It's in the correct ratio and I've set the display and operating system to 1080p but it's just not taking up the full 24 inches of glory, how can I fix this? (My pc runs windows 8.1 and I have an AMD graphics card) Thanks
  12. I only recently discovered Linus Tech Tips as I just got into computers, I've just built my own PC using knowledge from your videos and help from the awesome people on these forums (seriously, what a community!) I may be new here but I'm glad I've found such an awesome place. Congrats on 1 million subscribers and heres to many more!
  13. Ok I'll check for any dents, cheers. Good luck with yours!
  14. It didn't seem to be, it might have been though I didn't really check
