New Razer Blade Stealth - Discuss
TheFalseHuman replied to XDroidie626's topic in Phones and Tablets
most likely won't get this laptop, dual core CPU will be a pretty big bottleneck for anything that is intensive. Will look at Asus's and MSI's offering of laptops with external GPU docks oh yeah, and only 8GB of RAM. rip -
[?] Removing/cleaning front dust filter - xigmatek aquila
TheFalseHuman replied to TheFalseHuman's topic in Power Supplies
Yeah. But I have to unscrew the I/O from the side *sigh* the hassle is too real. The front dust filter is somewhat badly implemented in this case? -
[?] Removing/cleaning front dust filter - xigmatek aquila
TheFalseHuman replied to TheFalseHuman's topic in Power Supplies
Oh yeah LOL. Forgot all about the water. I clean the top dust filter with water, didn't think about applying it to the front. Thanks! -

4790k OC temps/voltages vs lifespan
TheFalseHuman replied to Adreyu's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Heat is just the byproduct of the high OC. Even if the temps are low, the higher voltage is the one that probably does more damage to the CPU than heat itself. That's one of the reasons why CPUs in OC competitions are essentially "dead" due to the high voltage, despite the sub-zero cooling. -

Who is the Target Audience for Apple's new MacBook?
TheFalseHuman replied to TheFalseHuman's topic in General Discussion
Well, consumers who are remotely interested in this MacBook should have at least checked the I/O or seen pictures of it on Apple's website and noticed the lone USB Type-C port on the side. So, I guess people who are buying this don't necessarily need to use their peripheral devices that often enough to look for an alternative? -
Who is the Target Audience for Apple's new MacBook?
TheFalseHuman replied to TheFalseHuman's topic in General Discussion
If I'm not mistaken, I thought one could use some adapter (since this is like a "must have" for such a new device) that would have USB port(s) and an another USB Type-C port, no? -
[sorry if this is the wrong subforum, please move it if so] Who is the target audience for Apple's new MacBook? MBA 11 - 2.38 MBA 13 - 2.96 MBPr 13inch - 3.48 pounds MB - 2 pounds For the same base price of $1299, one could get the MBPr 13 - better CPU (not sure about GPU), much better I/O and still has the screen I honestly don't see a good reason to get the new MacBook. The I/O is too restrictive/limited. I read that some people said that this is essentially an "iPad w/ a keyboard". Students can't afford or there are better alternatives. Businessmen would definitely want a laptop with better I/O. Content creators would want something better than a Core M CPU. Journalists might want to constantly use their USB drives? WHO IS THIS LAPTOP FOR?!?! so confused... Or is this device essentially a luxury device, such as a Rolex watch?

skylake isn't even out yet, but probably around the same price as Haswell and other CPU launches at the time of release? or maybe even cheaper due to better manufacturing?

I have only used the 3D software Blender so far, so I can't comment on the other softwares. It seems that you are experiencing some sort of bottleneck, or your GPU is not on par? When I use Blender, I use my GPU to render, not the CPU, since the GPU is much faster than the CPU in the majority of the cases. So, my CPU would essentially be idling. Therefore, I think you should allocate more of your money to a GPU or workstation GPU and less on the CPU. Of course, check the exact details with the software you use. However, in my case, it seems the 5820k is way of a overkill, since even when rendering on the GPU, only 1~2 cores would be active (I use Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to monitor). ^This if you are serious about 3d rendering and whatnot, consider a quadro card or the amd equivalent (I think FirePro?), but check the software's GPU list.

Video connectors on motherboard would the the CPU's iGPU, not the discrete GPU.
-
Dude, just get the one that you think looks the best. They perform within the same margin anyway...
-
Uhh, didn't Nvidia come out and corrected one of their employees's statement of that there wouldn't be a software fix, since it's an hardware issue? Also, according to pcper, I think, the GPU's ram usage is determined by the OS, not through other software.

I thought that was Linus's analogy, no?

what about budget...?
-
depends on usage and budget
-
... Where did you get this information from? Have you seen any sort of GPU benchmarks for these cards? 290 is somewhat comparable with the 970 in terms of fps, but like $100+ cheaper than the 970. There have been some amazing deals for it for about the last couple months now. You also need to consider the amount of vram, 290: 4GB vs 960: 2GB. So if you plan on playing on 1080+ monitors, the 4GB would most likely help.

Intel delays new x99 cpu until 2016
TheFalseHuman replied to Skrappjaw's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
if this post is true... Sweet! I don't have to buy a new mobo if I choose to get the Broadwell Extreme CPUs
