  1. I personally would definitely get that replaced. It's very exciting to get new hardware and stuff, but the feeling when it breaks is about 10^10000 times more annoying than RMAing it (trust me, just did that math ) So yes I would get that replaced.
  2. *I have been contacted by the almighty Linus* Thanks for the answer Linus (praised be) and I really appreciate the fact that you do post the WAN show for free on soundcloud, but Google Play Music recently added support for podcasts (not sure if it is a USA only type thing...) and it would be really great if the WAN show were to be on there. Problem is - to post a podcast on GPlay Music, one needs the worldwide distribution rights (which unfortunately I do not have). It would be awesome if you could add the podcast to Google Play. Link here: https://play.google.com/music/podcasts/publish?u=0# Thanks so much
  3. Two reasons. The main one is that I also like listening to my podcasts and having everything sync on my 2 PCs (in addition to my phone). The second reason is that I like to keep the number of apps I have to a minimum... just a personal thing. Still want WAN show on GPlay. It wouldnt even be that hard, I just would need LMG to do it because they have the rights and I don't...(durr)
  4. @LinusTech @Slick So I am an avid weekly viewer of the WAN show and also an avid podcast listener in general. I have Google Play music and they recently added good support for podcasts and I have been using that implementation. Is there a way we can get the WAN show on there? If there is anything that needs to be done, or any upkeep that would be necessary I would be more than willing to help out. Can we make this happen? Thanks!
  5. i will gladly accept the keyboard because I love keyboards

WTF? Do any guys legitimately think that girls…

haha lol!! make that a poll thread!
  7. Ill take a kova - i want it to use a mouse
  8. Usually computer noises are not good and relate to a larger problem. I would try unplugging cd drive and see if that does it, then try unplugging fans 1 by 1 and see if that is it, and lastly jumpstart your psu and see if that makes the noise
  9. Coil whine maybe? Possible culprit it the PSU - try turning it on by jumping pins and see if you get the noise.
  10. if you have another computer available see if you can make a linux (or other) bootable usb... instructions here on how to make a ubuntu drive http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows if this boots it, then there is nothing wrong with your computer itself, but maybe something wrong with the boot disk. Additionally you can see from within linux if the main drive is connected. When you do this, please share the results and i can further assist
  11. Yeah.... they have to take it into a lab and meticulously clean the platters, find an identical drive and swap the platters and such.... I know no one likes to hear this, but you should really have a backup of your stuff. EDIT: the minimum you can find it for is around 400.... link here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/hard-drive-recovery-solutions,3876-3.html
  12. in that case i would go for an i5. you dont need much if you arent hosting many people. Additionally i recomend getting some actual use out of your system to make it worthwile. Like for example setting up a NAS (with something like freenas and maybe even setting it up to use FTP so you can have your own cloud wherever you go), and possibly setting up stuff like: a media server, a vpn, a firewall.... be creative
  13. I didnt include an OS or a case.. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YNWqjX
  14. Ew. I disagree with you. An unreliable shitty power supply, an unpowerful processor (at best), not enough ram, junky mobo... sorry i just dont agree with you here EDIT: posting a build in a second
  15. Basically what everyone is saying. You are fine on the wattage, but it would do you well to get a higher quality psu, (and an 80+ silver or better while youre at it)
  16. Thanks so much! Headphone stand here I come! (PS. my current headphone stand is also a 3D printed "wall" mounted (its on the side of my desk, hence the "") thing that is approximately the curvature of a headphone band and it just is the word headphone stretched out. I didnt have to worry about cord management as it basically stays plugged into my computer ) link here to my headphone stand (expires after 24 hrs) http://beta.sharecad.org/Viewer/Shared?file=EAAAAFz3Xxa%2fvWzQXCc1nNheuLooIFn9UUOwTcLRgxeLA5CJ7QfBcLuZ7gO4l%2bgtgOHK2BDNVnIBabZrTa140oqcs8W41ROdgdp1jpVS3HfIJpyrsZdC3AnG2%2bXyqibk%2bZwyh2iKC8YMQc0LWhwWPifQjhLDU%2fGppR4RZ1AFMpp%2bJ2pY and here are two permanent pictures attached. Additionally i included the stl if you want to print https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-QBu0iJjLLKTjRHRmZHTHVyUkE/view?usp=sharing
  17. I know you dont want to replace your power supply, but if you have another one that you can switch to for a little while to test, that would be a good idea. Additionally what are your specs? (mainly how many HDDs, what processor, what graphics, and what psu?) Another option is to plug your power supply into an uninterruptable power supply (UPS) and see if that helps - it could be that you have bad wall power. Last possibility is to boot into linux and run a stability test there - it might be a windows problem EDIT: Forgot to mention - for the time being, turn all overclocks off GOOD LUCK
