One of these days, I'll get some real servers going...

You might be disturbed at what I am running off of a single Opentron 4 foot 12 outlet surge protector.

My PC, two monitors, a 5000btu Window mount AC unit, a powered speaker system, a 4 cell 18650 battery charger, a phone charger, and a 1/8th horsepower floor fan?

    No UPS? -1 point.

How many watts are each of those? Even at 200W/each you'd be looking at 1200W right there. That power strip would be getting a little warm. Might wanna divvy that up.

    It's cold to the touch.

It's the kind of powerstrip that looks at Wall Warts and says "Pfff, pathetic". The kind you find more in an industrial environment than a home.

Which is precisely why I bought it. got fucking sick and tired of the goddamned wall wart phone chargers being a problem.

The phone charger and battery cell charger are more often not in use. I only use either of them when I am at home. My phone for obvious reasons and the battery charger is only in use when I am present because I know what 18650 batteries can do when they malfunction.

@Windows7ge Power strip is rated for 1800w, so it should be fine.

This station is just designed to clone HDDs to SSDs at work

We get a high enough volume to warrant building this from some old servers we were given for recycling. They're single socket xeon X3430 machines.

Yeah the important thing is that it uses a low gauge wire and has a thick enough bus bar. Just don't go to Walmart, buy a 3 dollar power strip and push 1600W though it.

In fact thanks for that link. I have projects that could use something capable of carrying well over 1000W.

After seeing the power strips my work uses for our work benches, I became aware of "industrial" level power strips. Although the ones they use are surely cheaper and of less quality.

I mainly loved how there are INCHES of room between each plug. No device could EVER have a plug big enough to cause issues.

It is only now that I am learning that this power strip is actually capable of handling of more power than I am drawing. I know my window unit maybe draws 400 watts, and I know my PC isn't drawing a full 1000w that the PSU is capable of.

Still, great to know it can handle that kind of power.
