My Fileserver Hardware CASE: Fractal Define R4 PSU: BeQuiet Dark Power Pro 550W MB: Asus P9D-WS CPU: Intel 4570S HS: Stock Intel heatsink RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz RAID CARD: LSI 9271-8i SSD: Samsung 840 250gb HDD: 6 Seagate Barracudas 3TB Software and Configuration: My server is running windows server 2008 R2 and im using my LSI card to make my array. My main array consists of 6 3TB drives in RAID 6, so I end up with 12TB of actual useable space. Usage: I use the storage for movies, series, pictures, music and important documents. I am also running Serviio as a media server to stream my content all around the house. It is also for backing up my computers. Additional info: The server is connected with a 2Gbps connection to a Netgear Switch.
  5. Again an awesome giveaway ;) Twitter: https://twitter.com/andi1455/statuses/354252281207717888
  6. The problem is the built in raid controller on the h87 chipset. For raid5 the controller makes parity calculation for one drive and if you don`t have a high end dedicated raid card, the write speeds will be a little bit slow, like in your case.
  7. Everythings fine, but get a SSD ;) It makes your pc a lot faster, than a regular hard drive
  8. Very nice :) Much better than before xD
  9. Linus and Slick thanks for your great work ;) Twitter share from andi1455: https://twitter.com/andi1455/status/315393732801355776
  10. Upgrade to Windows8 64bit. A 32bit operating system only supports up to 3.75gb of ram.
  11. Last night i bought a bottle of Havanna Club and orange juice xD
  12. Then i would go with a single high res monitor like the asus pb278q. It has a resolution of 2560 by 1440, so the vram of the 690 should be enough :)
  13. i agree with the "thegamez" the 690 has only 2gb vram effectively. And thats a bit too little for a triple HD setup. Maybe consider to buy a TITAN --> more vram, nearly as fast as a 690, also you needn`t have to deal with driver issues, because it is only a single gpu card ;)
  14. Movie: Shutter Island, Blood Diamond, Project X ;) TV Show: Supernatural
  15. Yes onboard audio sucks :) Any dedicated soundcard is better than the onboard one. So i think the ASUS Xonar DGX 5.1 should be good for you :)
  16. if you like the board, go for it :) Also have a look on EVGA mobos, they`re also red ;)
