  1. I turned off all of my "Remote" services, because I knew for a fact I wouldn't need to access my PC remotely. It's just a security risk waiting to happen.
  2. I installed QuickTime for use in the Adobe Suite. I don't need it to run when I start my Computer. It's a waste of resources sitting in the background. So I turned it off.
  3. Because being afraid to modify your startup programs and services shows signs that you shouldn't even be running a PC? Being intimidated by technology holds you back so much, it's astonishing.
  4. Some of the services that start automatically are required for basic Windows operations to function. However, you do not need any startup programs. A good place ot start for turning services from automatic to manual would be Windows Media Player Networking services, Remote services, and "Print Spooler" for most people.
  5. Want to upgrade? Okay. Want to upgrade for DayZ? No. The game is not optimized for any hardware configurations, and simply runs horribly.

    New SSD :(

If you have two instances of your OS running, that doesn't mean you still "have" your programs. They're there, and they're executable, but they're not "installed" on your OS drive anymore. You'll need to re-install them, if you want to make sure they function properly. A lot of programs write themselves into registry, create special folders on your drive, and so forth, to make sure they function properly. It would be best if you simply re-install them.
  7. "The best" is always subjective. Especially since some people use watercooling, and some use air. So for some, airflow isn't as important. For an air-based system thoug,h the Air 540 is pretty good, but it's not the best. Again though, "best" is always subjective. Bill Gribble.
  8. My 970 was $330. Do I select $300? Or $400? Am I rounding up? Down? Why not make the poll brackets? ($0-100, $100-200, $200-300, and so on.)
  9. If you need any help whatsoever with Sony Movie Studio, don't hesitate to PM me. I've used the Sony Vegas products for about nine years now.
  10. Adobe After Effects CC. You're not going to make a quality product using anything less than so. I'm renting the entire Adobe Suite for $21.45 a month. I don't know why people say it's expensive, because it's not. I will pay $257 in one year of renting the software. That will take me about twenty years to spend the amount the entire suite would have cost me. (CS6 was around $5,000.) It's not user-friendly, but there are a plethora of courses online, both free and paid for. I am using lynda.com to learn the Adobe Suite, and I couldn't recommend it any more. If you're looking for free software to do this, you're not going to find it. At least, not without making a pseudo-effect, and having it turn out "okay" at best. If you're too "afraid" to go forth with something like this, then PM me and we can talk business. I'd be happy to make something for you.
  11. The stuttering is quite frankly mostly because of Rockstar themselves. There's a thread about it here.Windows 10, aside from a few slight glitches, has performed just fine for me. Of course, everyone's experience will be different. Just sharing my two cents. Windows 10 is, in my opinion, a worthy successor to Windows 7. It ties together Windows 7 and 8 really well, and presents itself perfectly, in my opinion.
  12. Prison Architect, if it's still available!
  13. Sigh... Why do people find it so hard to keep rooms clean? You only need to clean a room when you make it dirty. So don't leave your dishes, clothes, or trash in your room. Ta-da, you'll never clean your room again. I haven't cleaned my room in five years because I don't let it get dirty. It's spotless.
  14. "QVL," or "Qualified Vendor List." is a list consisting of hardware that has been tested and confirmed to function on a particular motherboard. (QVL applies to others things, but in this context...) As an example, only two DIMMs of RAM are verified to be supported by my motherboard. Yet almost any standard DIMM kit works fine. There's a difference between unsupported, and a manufacturer simply not verifying it by hand.
  15. Using your hand to test temperatures is dumb. Video cards are safe at up to 200~ degrees Fahrenheit. Are you aware that's only ~10 degrees under the temperature of boiling water? Don't use your hand to test temperatures. Unless it's your forehead.
  16. Truth be told, my younger brother's PC did this the day his motherboard died. We still haven't replaced it, but luckily he's on a backup rig. Have you tried reseating your CPU, RAM, and GPU? Have you reseated your cables?
  17. Add an "@" before their name to mention them directly. Like @GHOSTface986 I went from a Radeon 5570 to a Radeon 6870, to a GTX 970. My younger brothers have R9 270X's, and my older brother has an R9 290x. I am not biased whatsoever. If I was, I'd be recommending you go with a GTX 970. I still do, but it's a tad out of your price range of $250-300. I just recommend the most for the money!
  18. As long as you run a program like Driver Sweeper before you install the new card, nope.
  19. Dat name doe. It's almost as bad as "Razer Naga."
  20. R7 cards are the weak cards. They're the ones you'd throw in an HTPC or something, or that quick upgrade on your mom's off-the-shelf HP Office Desktop. The R9 280x is comparable to the GTX 960, but it's slightly better. The 970 is better than the 290, but slightly worse than the 290x. (Though at 1080p / 1440p it doesn't really make a difference.) The 390 is comparable to the 290, but with a few power improvements and additional VRAM. Get a 390 over a 290, but get a 290x over a 390. And get a 390x over a 290x.
  21. Well, for $330, you can get an MSi Gaming 8G R9 390. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127874 Or you can get an MSi Gaming 4G R9 290 for $300. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127774&cm_re=290-_-14-127-774-_-Product I'm not sure what else to recommend. A 280x isn't a bad idea, but that's all the way down at the $180 price range now. For $330 you could also get a GTX 970. Stupid AMD launch. Now I don't know what to choose..
  22. I can't really tell if it's too much or not. The instagram filter is too thick.
  23. As of Adobe Creative Cloud, you can no longer purchase Adobe's Creative products. They've moved to a subscription-based model, which, in my opinion, is rather affordable for what you get. I'm signed up for one year as a student, and I am paying $21.45 a month after sales tax. I have access to all Adobe programs at this price, as well as the Community Market, Typekit Fonts, and Adobe Stock. (Although for the full version of Adobe Stock, it requires an additional membership.) I'd recommend you set yourself up on this plan, as you do get a lot for only $20~ a month. I'm not sure whether or not you can even activate CS6 keys anymore.
  24. I kept getting install errors when I'd run the setup tonight, so I went ahead and did a clean install, and it seemed to do the trick! I was going to do that eventually, but figured an OS swap should have fixed it. Guess not!
