  1. My bro ran into a GPU/Motherboard compatibility issue(See thread) and he needs a new motherboard. Important specs: MB: GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3H CPU: i7-2600 PSU: DELTA DPS-460DB-3 GPU: EVGA 960 RAM: Samsung DDR3 2gb 1333 x4 My concerns: The psu only has 4-pin 12v CPU power and the Motherboard has a 8-pin CPU power socket. Will leaving 4 pins unoccupied work? The i7-2600 only supports PCI 2 and the MB has a PCI 3 slot. Will the PCI 3 slot just run at PCI 2 speed and will this limit the 960?
  2. Tried a full PSU swap (750W). Same results with old card(worked) and new card(didn't work).
  3. Take a look at FreeNAS. Not sure about the game streaming though. Tek Syndicate did a great tutorial on it.
  4. Just gonna throw Arch Linux into the distro debate here. It's super simple and lightweight once you get it set up. You only get what you put in it. Also Pacman is the best package manager I've ever used and the AUR is amazing.
  5. Running multiple temperature sensing programs at the same time can cause funny readouts.
  6. Cringe warning. I put mine and my brothers systems next to each other and plugged my PSU(750W) into the 960 and turned both on at the same time. It had the same issue. I'll have more time with the system soon so, I will try swapping it completely with my 750W one.
  7. I had this issue once. It happened during stress testing and a bios update fixed it.
  8. Replace cowboy hat or just stick it on his head like it was under the first hat. Whichever you think will look best .
  9. Background: I've been helping my brother upgrade his pre-built hp PC. He got a 960 to replace his HD 6770. Hardware: MOBO: Hp Ipisb-Ch New GPU: EVGA 960 PSU: DELTA DPS-460DB-3 Issue: The with the new card the system can not boot into windows or bios; it displays the hp flash screen and then will move to a static system information screen if any key is pressed. The old card still works fine in the system. What I've tried: 960 works in a different system updated motherboard bios to latest (2011) boot to bootable Arch linux drive (no change in issue) My conclusion: Because of the nature of the issue and that to my knowledge the 960 requires less power than the old 6770 I believe the ganky hp motherboard does not support the newer 960. Main Question: Does the motherboard seem like a plausible reason for the issue? Have you ever run into this? Thank you and tell me if you need any more info or have suggestions.
  10. recommended PSU is 400w on the 960 so it seems strange that it even has a 8pin. for comparison the 6770 recommended 450w,
  11. My bro wants to upgrade from a reference 6770 to a 960. He currently has a delta 460w PSU and it only has a 6-pin and the 960 needs a 8-pin. Is it safe to use a 6pin to 8pin adapter?
  12. When you get down to it every thought you have is the result of the physical structure of your brain.
