  1. You want POSSITIVE pressure inside the case. If you dont have enything in the buttom of the case, then fans there is just a waste, if you have it full of harddrives then just fil up one side of the basement! You just want more fans blowing in than out. So I would say three fans in from the frant and 2 out of the top, depending on the system inside though. If its a really big system you might want to use all the fans spots. I might acutally go for intakes at the top and back and exhaust in the front. Or just go with intakes in the front and back and exhaust in the top. depends on your specific layout.
  2. When idling I dont see why that might not be possible, but under load i very much doubt it! might stand a better chance is they where external though. But a better solution is to get an automated fan controllor like the Aquacomputer Aquaero 5 or the mCube Tbalancer like Slick and Linus uses, they turn off the fans when they are needed.
  3. Personally I really dont like Reds, they are way to light for me, I make alot of typos while my fingers are just resting, but blacks on the other hand is actually my second favorite after blues (atleast from the four main switches)
  4. The first time I build a computer I was also afraid that my GPU was dead, then after half an hour i figured out that the GPU needed more power than just from the motherboard.. duh also forgetting to flip the switch ON, on the back of the PSU, that has gotten me to the edge on numerous occasions.. :/
  5. Well from what I can tell on anandtech, the 770 is atleast 10% better in all, but two of the tests. In those two it only surpasses it by a margin of error. And there is no mention of overclocking here, besides GPU boost 2.0 pretty much takes care of that without any effort. And would a bigger bus side actually be needed, more does not always equal better in the real world. And I did say that it was my personal opinion; I do find the AMD software confusing, I know others might not, but this recomendation is based on my opinion, as is yours in some way or another, also on facts as for both of us. I mostly recomend the 770 because I think it performs better, I have recomended AMD cards quite some times too, when I think they perform better than the Nvidia counterpart. I would agree though, but the 4gb version of the 770 might not be that much better when considering price to performance, but I trust that the topic owner doesnt just take anyones word, everyone should do their research before just buying something because of one recomendation!
  6. I dont really think that has much to do with great or not great, the other options are just alot cheaper.. Personally I would pay 4 times as much a Dell monitor over a cheap crap monitor any day of the week..
  7. Well, right now its pretty bad, but im waiting to be done with my summer job, so that I have time to redo my watercooling with copper piping..
  8. To add to GoodBytes post; About the enclosure, I have worked at a plastic manufacturer and the "R&D" involved in a new product can be pretty steap and aluminium moulds for some products can reach 80k-90k usd for complicated products, from what I know. This isnt too complecated to produce I think so it might "only" be 20kusd for the mould, but thats alot for the avarage guy..
  9. Wow, im sorry to say - this has to be the messiest PC I have ever seen! Even worse than my current temporary build..! :O Im horrified!
  10. Well, if you can get a 4gb 770 in the budget I would go with that.. I dont know how much of an improvement, but if nothing else you can have the same performance with a quieter operation, becasue I would imagine that a 80mm thick radiator requires more pressure than a 30 or 45mm rad..
  11. Is Dell bad? Alienware is bad imo, way overpriced! Dont think consoles are bad really, they have their place and their people so to speak, I just dont use them..
  12. The layout plan look good, I think you could probably get push/pull on the front rad, and that would be preferred for a 80mm rad imo. And I would switch out the apogee drive with a D5 pump and maybe something like this; http://www.xs-pc.com/reservoirs/acrylic-tank-reservoir-for-laing-d5 I would also go with something like a 2gb/4gb version of the GTX770 This is personal opinion though, the D5 is probably stronger than the apogee drive and probably also quiter, I think apogee drive II is a good product though, just think the D5 is better.. and I have never been a fan of AMD gpu's, mostly becuase their software is confusing imo, and the 770 is faster..
  13. I know I would go for the better image quality and color depth with the Asus monitor, but if you really want a fast gamin monitor then get an Asus or BenQ 120/144hz 24" monitor. In my opinion there is no reason to go above 24" with 1080p..
  14. Really nice build, but why are you going overkill on everything but the GPUs? I mean you have 2400 watts of power and 64gb of memory, of which you use under a fourth and then you have 7870? :O
  15. Looks really good.. Did you paint parts of the case ? I think that it is just the traces, the motherboard itself is black..
  16. I would get the TJ11 to be honest.. The Caselabs cases are ugly and sooo expensive imo..
  17. Doesnt the TJ11 also suppert that?
  18. looks interesting! I have a lot of idea about my own case designs too, but I probably wont have the funds nor the chance to build it, but one can hope.. :) And the parts list looks solid too! :)
  19. GTX 780.. Soon watercooled and hopefully I will have two in a couple of months :) this thread should be moved, not really the right forum for this..
  20. I dont know much about this, but you could try Google SketchUp, it might be less demanding on the CPU, but I would think that any 3D program would be somewhat too demending for a less powerfull CPU.. :)
  21. http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/cooler_master_eisberg_240l_review,13.html These guys seem to like it ok, but the h220 might be a better choice, afterall Swiftech has more experience with watercooling.. :) And I would like to add to my previous post, that if you are going to be cooling both the GPU and CPU, you should really have a 240mm radiator more, or ATLEAST a 120mm, but that is in my opinion not enough to be worth it for watercooling.. :)
  22. Honestly I dont know too much about that product, but I assume that you have to get some more/new hose and some more fittings, and if the pump and radiator just uses G1/4 inch threads then you can buy pretty much any fittings you want as long as you buy some tubing that matches the OD and ID of the fittings (OD=Outer diameter, ID = Inner Diameter). and then some new coolant and maybe a reservois if you want, but that is not necesary, (although it will take a qhile to fill the loop when you poor coolant directly into the pump..)
  23. If you hop on either geekhack or deskthority you might find a guy who sells these switches standalone, that way you could try out the switch before you buy anything.. :) I got one of each cherry MX switch from 7bit on deskthority before I got my first mech keyboard. (actually I got a Logitech G710+ before, but I really didnt like that one..)
