  1. Well it kinda sucks that you can't plug it into a computer, here's a last thing you can try. If you have a friend with a desktop computer take your sata connector and ssd with you and install windows/format the harddrive on his/her computer.
  2. Here's a protip, for when the Ethernet-Port is busy, have a spare wireless USB internet adapter. Problem solved, nothing should make you go offline! EVER! Edit1: For when you're on the go and the telephone antennas are out of range, get an external antenna amplifier, for your hotspot device - problem solved. When you fail to pay the bill, drop everything you've got in your hands run to the nearest library (libraries always have some computers with free internet) if all the computers are copied, find the most vulnerable user and smack him or her (gender neutrality) in the face (or if you're boring just tell the person to get the fuck out cuz you've got no internet).- Now continue where you left off. Problem Solved.
  3. 'Exclusive : Biggest backward compatible library than any consoles ever, massive amount of exclusives that consoles can only dream to have (mostly indie but a few AAA too)' All consoles ever combined*
  4. Taken that most of the Linus Tech Tips community are a part of the PC-masterrace these numbers doesn't surprise me at all. What we should do is to make mainstream news make such a poll to get an idea of how the general population thinks. What did I just say, make mainstream news do anything remotely scientific about technology, I must be high...
  5. Well looking at the quality of the videos themselves while Linus' extremely high pitch kills my ears every time (they should apply a high-pass filter on that poor guy with a girls voice), besides that the technical quality of LinusTechTips' videos are top notch, the whitebalance is mostly perfect with only minor complaints. The b-roll works very good, the information given is invaluable too. Overall does the videos seem rather professional for youtube's standards, and even if you're newcomer you'd know the 'Do as we say not as we do' is a joke, and you're probably grasping after knowledge about the product you found the channel from that you'll stick around and watch it anyways, until you find out that the channel is actually pretty good and hopefully subscribe for the daily uploads. Also their over 1m subscriber count and their verified status helps them getting away with such cheesy jokes. A slogan idea 'We let our viewers correct our mistakes'.
  6. I'd be jealous but I've got a shield tablet and live on the road, so until AMD catches up on that part I've to live with all Nvidia's bullshit.
  7. If you want to get hated by all the console peasants (I'm a PC-Masterrace guy),- Go talk about why PC is superior to consoles, PC people can relate and console people can hate. If you want to keep your friends and still want to talk about techstuff/computer stuff. Hmm.. You could talk about the importance of public service and mix some tech into it. For example why it's important to have people like Linus around to help us make better decisions when it comes to buy new stuff,- and how to make poor decisions on how to live and be social Or as Chronos5618 said Net neutrality whether people like or not they'll have to get familiar with the problem. So they must somehow relate and make their own opinion about it, which usually leads to discussion. In contrast to the 'PC is superior to consoles' thing this will lead to a more intelligent discussion, which you want, trust me. And if I must not copy somebody else, I'd suggest.... Woaw it's hard not to copy people...... Depending on what you do with computers and what you like about them (I mean it's pretty wide) you can talk about how they use computers to make feature films, show off techniques you did yourself. I've for a couple of weeks ago finished a presentation and a 20 pages rapport about this very topic,- I got A+ so not too bad after all, but the teachers said, I would've given some critique points if I'd understood a word of what you said. (I did talk about everything from 3d modeling to fluid sims and concept development with concept art and so on) I did also showoff a couple of productions of my own, as the point over the I. I hope this has given you some inspiration, let me know what you choose to finally stick with.
  8. I've had the same problem, it solved it self though after trying to reboot into the installer enough times. But I've heard if you've access to another computer (or another harddrive with an OS - then boot from that) insert your primary harddrive (the one with windows you want formatted) then format it from windows. Then just boot from the USB device again and it should work. Another thing you could do, which is safer, is just to unplug your mechanical harddrive with windows and insert your SSD and USB device. Let the motherboard choose to boot into the installer on the USB. Then all you need to do is to install windows to the SSD, and wupti you've got a fresh install of windows. -> Shutdown your computer. Now do one of two things, 1. look at your motherboard's sata connectors they should be labeled 1,2,3 etc. Now locate the one your SSD is connected to, remember that number. 2. Figure out what your SSD's name seen by the motherboard is, I've got no idea how but trial and error. While your computer is shutdown connect your mechanical drive and turn on your computer. Now now hit the button which takes you to the boot manager like crazy (for me it's F11), once you're in the bootloader locate your SSD it should be easy since one of the bootables should be labeled SATA[Number] [harddrive name, just give up on trying to remember that], now boot into your SSD' windows. Once you're in, locate your mechanical harddrive, make sure to copy any files you want saved, you're about to get rid of it all. Once you've done that, just right click on the drive and hit format, just take the default settings, and I assume you want to use it as an storage drive, am I right? then choose the NTFS file system. Congratulations you've not formatted your mechanical drive and installed a fresh windows on your SSD.
  9. I do think more and more is getting wireless. Take a look at wireless phone charging and wireless displays even. Though the cables will probably not completely die off, we'll still need them for more power hungry stuff, such as computers. But more and more everyday things as well as low-powered things, such as computer accessories, will, in my eyes, become wireless. Kasper.
  10. All the videos are great, but if I should point out two I would point out those: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByI1PHMcPJQ&list=UU0vBXGSyV14uvJ4hECDOl0Q I've choosen this one from TechQuickie because it finally answered a question I've been wanting an answer on for years -- What's the difference between Servers and Desktops, and that was the first video which finally could tell the difference properly. And from JayzTwoCents it must be this one, I've for a long time been having eye problems because I look at my screens way too much during a day, and yes I've heard about Gunnar but I couldn't find an un-sponsered (True honest opinion) review, but Jay helped me actually buying Gunnar' glasses and it helped me so much - I wish I could somehow thank him personally but this is the closet I can get. I do no longer have any eye problems because I look too much on screens, and I can no longer imagine a life without them.
