  1. Basically the question is above. I've been looking at LCD controller boards on Ebay for a panel from a broken all-in-one, but I can't tell what any of the connectors are. I've seen eDP, vertical sync cables, LED power cables, single laptop cable which do everything all at once - how do I identify each type of connector and what types of connector do I need to be aware of? I've tried to find guides but I couldn't find anything. If anyone can explain to me or point me to a guide that'd be really helpful.
  2. 1J/s x 1s = 1J Not 1J/s x 1s =1Js
  3. Okay, then maybe I am wrong. But that explanation does not make any sense. I would understand what you were saying if you were talking about battery retention over time (When not being used), however not if you are taling about while the battery is being used. The bit that doesn't make sense is where you seem to be saying it's energying the phone, but it's not, it's powering the phone. You don't supply Energy to a component, you supply Power, or energy over time. You transfer energy to a component. Energy is what we're measuring when we want to know how much battery a battery can have. There's no reason to randomly multiply it by time. However, the best way of calculating how much energy a battery can hold is by measuring how much power it can supply over a given period of time, or for how long it can supply a given power. That's the only reason time is being brought into it, is because power is energy divided by time, so we multiply it by time to reverse it. The only thing I can think of is that we must be thinking of different things. If I were to give you a number of doughnuts for a number of years, you'd think immediately that I was lending you them - because that's the only way which makes sense. If I were to give you a number of doughnuts per month for a number of years - you would be receiving delicious treats which you could consume with pleasure. I don't think components borrow energy. Do you understand what I'm saying now? There has to be a rate for it to make sense.
  4. I literally said it was energy. Look I can't make you see where you're wrong, so I just hope you realise it yourself. Joule-Hour wouldn't be how much energy it could provide for how long, that would be Power/Time. Joule-hours (Forgetting the fact it makes literally no sense) would be the fact that the battery can hold energy at all, with time just strapped on the side. IE a battery holds energy, if it holds energy indefinitely (IE nothing is draining it) then it'd have an infinite Joule-Hour rating. I don't see how you're not seeing this.
  5. I'm just popping in to say if you can get an Asus Transformerbook T100 or any of its skews (I have a T100TAM) they're really really good 2in1's. Great for taking notes with a stylus and great for showing teachers stuff. Also can play older games like Mount & Blade Warband without a hitch and can almost run TF2 (Should be able to play it fine if you optimise the settings). I personally can't imagine any other product being as good for as little money as this thing. I absolutely adore it and really think you should give it a consider.
  6. No, Watts is the measurement of the rate of energy transferred over time. Power= Work Done /Time. Therefore the Power*Time will give you the Energy. Watt-Hour is just another measurement of energy the same as a Joule or Calorie. That's why your electricity bill is calculated by how many Watt-Hours you've used - it's a measurement of energy. A Joule-Hour doesn't make any sense at all. That would be how long you have an amount of energy. As in if I have a doughnut that's 800 calories and I keep it for 8 hours, it'd be a 6400 calorie-hour doughnut. I don't know where you're getting so confused.
  7. Okay, so I got a T100TAM, and love it to bits. However it came with loads of Crapware and as a result I decided to reinstall windows on it. I've managed to reinstall windows and get seemingly all the drivers working bar this one. It's the Invensense G-Sensor Driver, which I can only assume is the gyro driver. (From the website: http://www.asus.com/2-in-1-PCs/ASUS_Transformer_Book_T100TAM/HelpDesk_Download/) Anyway, when I try to install it, running as admin or not, it always fails. Seemingly because it doesn't have enough permissions for something. I'm new to windows 8 so I might be missing something but I really need help here, it's the final thing I need to have the tablet running perfectly. If you can help, or have any insight, please let me know. Thanks - Pyroven
  8. Basically the main thing I pick out is that you chose an all-in-one liquid cooler, it's not worth your money. If you're gonna get a liquid cooler get a 120x240 not a 120x120. If you want good value for your money drop the cooler all together, use the stock intel cooler and buy a top-end graphics card.
  9. Pretty simple, I have a minecraft world that is very important to me and I switch around my OS quite a lot and keep forgetting to back up my minecraft world. I need a program that will allow me to plug in my USB Flash drive an have it automatically back up my minecraft worlds, photos, etc. every day. I'm sure there is a simple answer but googling it only brings up garbage. EDIT:: Point is I need a program that will allow me to pick specific folders and back them up/sync them with another storage device any time I plug it in.

  11. Hey guys I forgot to add, this is a very good UK-based Tech review channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/GTDReviews
  12. Hey so basically, I constantly find myself having run out of youtube videos to watch. Youtube has no idea how to do 'Suggested channels for you' so I figured I'd come to you guys seeing as you will probably have similar interests to me. What are those interests exactly? I Like Minecraft, Team Fortress 2, Mount and Blade, Tech channels and educational channels like CrashCourse. I generally am not a fan of really mainstream gaming channels, I can't stand StampyLongHead and other channels that seem to be catering to younger audiences. A few channels I am already subbed to: Tek Syndicate, Austin Evans, MKBHD, Paul's Hardware, Awesome Sauce Network, NCIX, Etho's Lab (Minecraft channel), NerdCubed, Boogie2988, Jerma985, STAR_ and Robbaz. I'm interested in hearing about podcasts too. Also a channel which I think people on this forum would really like, don't know how many of you would know about it: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUQo7nzH1sXVpzL92VesANw So yeah, I think this would be a good thread for simply getting the word out about different channels and good for sharing channels around that may interest each other. Have a good day

  14. Okay cool, I asked for your source due to the conflicting answers I was getting
  15. Can you explain or give your source?
  16. Hey so basically I have a 1080p panel. I have overclocked it to 80Hz and it only has DVI and VGA ports on the back. I have not really noticed a difference between 60Hz and 80Hz and the thought occurred to me that it may be the the DVI cable bottlenecking it. So my question is: What are the specs of a MONO-link DVI at 1080p? What are the specs of a DUAL-link DVI at 1080p? It would really help if someone could guide me. EDIT// Also could someone find me a super cheap Dual-Link DVI-D Cable? Best I can find is £5.99 (I need a minimum length of 2M)
  17. Hello! I Have the BenQ GL2250 1080p monitor. Using from Tek Syndicate, I was able to overclock it to 80Hz (from an original 60Hz) The overclock is almost perfectly stable - the only glitching I have observed is during times when it is switching through things quickly, like window flicking really hardcore. However I am not sure if it even is a monitor glitch as it would appear to be normal stuttering I might experience anyway (If that makes sense). I don't notice any stuttering or dropped frames in games. I have tried going up to 84Hz however at this point I began to notice blurriness in text and a general loss of clarity, not too obvious but still noticeable if you are paying attention. Personally I wasn't able to really notice the difference between 60 and 80 and I play TF2 and Quake Live with the twitchiest mouse hand on the server. I did feel as if things were somehow clearer on 80Hz but I am not sure whether this is simply down to placebo. Anyway, I hope for anyone with this monitor like me looking for overclocking help like I was finds this useful! It feels nice to be giving to the community for once!
  18. Where? haha and how reliable is it?
  19. The R9 290 and the R9 290X are literally the same card! I have an R9 280 and I have overclocked it myself (Which is really really really easy by the way) to TURN IT INTO an R9 280X. If you want an R9 290X, buy an R9 290 and use MSI Afterburner, Sapphire Trixx, GPU Tweak or another easy to use graphics card overclocking tool to get the exact same performance as an R9 290X. Buy an R9 290 with a good cooler (Practically anything other than the reference cooler) and simply overclock it. You'll save a fair amount of money and get the exact same end product. I saved around £40 by doing this, and I have now got the 280X in everything but name. The X isn't worth your money.
  20. Hi I have an XFX Ghost Edition Dual Fan 7770 which is now not working. I had it overclocked using GPU Tweak, but I do not know whether this is what killed it. I switched on my PC one day and it was black screen. I know for a fact that it is definitely the GPU broken as I have Fixed my PC. I was wondering whether there are common things that break in GPU's that can be fixed to make them work again, I am aware that this may sound stupid but the GPU cost £70, I don't want to give up on it. Secondly, If there is nothing I can do to try and fix the card then what should I do with it? Can I sell it for parts or repair? Or should I just do a Logan and use it as a placemat for my drink? EDIT// People don't seem to have realised - I now have a new GPU (R9 280X) and am not looking for a new GPU! EDIT// £70 is a fair bit of money for me
  21. Okay so I have a BenQ GL2250. It's a 1080p TN panel. The colours on it look absolutely fine to me, the look pretty accurate and in comparison to a TV I have, are very full. The specs are as follows: 12M:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio 1000:1 Contrast 250 cd/m2 However, while looking at some Korean monitors, I found that a PLS had a DCR of 50k:1 and an IPS had a DCR of 2M:1. I thought Dynamic Contrast ratio was the difference between max and min colour output. I thought it was what made whites white and blacks black and reds red. Can someone explain to me why therefore, my TN appears to have better colour reproduction than an IPS?
  22. What is it in the settings? i have looked and cant find it.
  23. Hey so probably a simple and common question, I have an R9 280 which I want to overclock to 280X standards but I set the dials to the necessary points, temperatures are good but it is unstable. I need to turn up the voltage, but the thing is faded out and won't let me. I have a Sapphire Dual-X. Also, on a side not can someone give me the perfect overclock settings? I know not all are the same, but i can get core clockk of 1100 and memory clock of 1500.
  24. I have the R9 280, which I have overclocked to 280X specs. I play Minecraft, TF2, Portal 2, BF3 and... that's about it really. At 1080p I know for a fact it destroys those games, even when running 720p youtube videos on a secondary 720p monitor at the same time. There is nothing in my steam library that this card can't get over 60FPS at high-max settings in. I just bought mine there recently and right now it's at a realllllly good price. Got mine off Amazon for £140, it has gone on sale for as low as £135. The price is so close to that of an R9 270, that it's just not worth getting a 270 right now. Hope I was able to help.
