  1. It is not a requirement to use the system so not really. I edited my above comment BTW to include UHD Bluray player also.
  2. Your missing the point, I'm not saying the CPU can't handle it, I'm saying you've tried to put together a PC that isn't using the same or equivalent parts so that the price will look better. Not saying it can't be done, just saying you haven't done this.
  3. Yep for sure I'm not denying that, I'm pointing out that the guy can't try to put together a build by guessing and claim that an equivelent PC comes in at the same price. Which it doesn't.
  4. Except from the fact that the CPU you have chosen is wrong, the board is wrong and doesn't have Wifi which Xbox will, its either a customised version of an RX 580 as it has a few more CU units and a higher memory bandwidth and you forgot to add storage. It also has an Ultra Bluray player included of which the cheapest standalone UHD bluray player you can find is around $350 on its own.
  5. That is a pretty strange business decision to say the least, and one that could be viewed in more ways than one. What if I said to you that you could be viewed to less at risk, as these kind of vulnerabilities could take much longer to be discovered on MacOS because less people use them? Meaning you could be at risk for much longer. Not saying this is the case, but saying there is two sides to the coin.
  6. All the updates are here: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/ms17-010.aspx
  7. So what servers are you running then if you want to create a hosting company?
  8. USB is pretty much the standard way to install it. Try another USB if you want just to rule that out. Those specs are kind of similar to the Poweredge 2900/2950 in that you could get it with that Processor configuration. Obviously the motherboard and other stuff will be different but this might be the closest you will get. So what you could try is using the Dell customised image for the Poweredge 2900 located here: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=D2NRN&fileId=3586956454&osCode=XI55&productCode=poweredge-2900&languageCode=en&categoryId=EC This is for ESXI 5.5, there are customised images for 5.0 and 5.1 also. I'm sure there was another server that was similar to this in terms of specs but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was!
  9. Christ no. That machine (as you know) is very outdated, the latest version of ESXI isn't going to be nearly compatible with it. The install media contains all the drivers it needs to install, that version will not contain the drivers required for the install and/or operation. You need to check the HCL for that kind of thing, although I don't think you'll find that model on it. Try ESXI 5.0 first, if that works then you could try 5.5.
  10. Use ZFS, BTRFS is too new in my opinion to be used for anything other than testing/non important data.
  11. I have not used this service so can't comment on that, however have you looked into simply moving to AWS, Google Cloud, Azure (if you want to go MS) or similar?
  12. Shouldn't take you long at all! Once you've finished and are happy, be sure to mark the thread as answered!
  13. No, no data will be lost at all. If you re-install the USB stick, when it comes up use the "Import volume" button and it will automatically detect your volumes as they were before. That part is totally safe. Just do not press anything you are not sure of, ask first.
  14. Yep as above, multichannel support is coming in an upcoming release, the past few SAMBA versions have had it in as "experimental" and FreeNAS currently does have the ability to do it, you just won't find it in the GUI, you will need to tweak with the backend. Weather or not it works, I will leave that for you to discover!
  15. Yes, as you have found out, IX have decided after the project lead leaving that Corral was in too bad a state to call "release" and too much work to get it to what they would be comfortable with calling stable, so have decided to re-focus their efforts on pushing 9.10 into 11. Anyways, won't get into that here. As for your question, the config files are not compatible with each other. They are in a different format and work completely differently (makes sense since 10 was a complete re-write). You say you "really want to go back to 9.10", this makes me think that you did a migration from 9.10? If so, simply reboot into the 9.10 boot environment and all your settings will be as they are. If you did a fresh install or deleted the 9.10 environment, then you will need to start your config from a fresh which realistically will only take you around 10 minutes to half an hour depending on what you were doing so no big deal. You can do a fresh 9.10 install without any loss to data, you will just need to import your volume.
  16. Backplane more expensive than the server haha! That's cool, good to know! What processor configuration did you end up getting and what is your use case? 24 bay sounds nice, now you've got me thinking...
  17. They seem to be slightly more here in the UK and there isn't a ton of options - makes me sad when I go on the US ebay and there is tons of choice for cheap I too have been looking at used Supermicro servers, some are actually pretty interesting and do seem more reasonably priced! Let me know what you go for!
  18. Looks nice, I would be interested in hearing your experience with this/whatever you decide to go as I have been casually looking a lot recently, hoping to buy in the near future. I was the same as you, was looking to the C2100 and the R510 12 bay version but again cost!
  19. Look at something like amazon S3 storage, OneDrive, Dropbox etc and sync there. Unless you have a decent amount of storage to spare. If you own both businesses, could you store the other businesses data giving you offsite backup?
  20. Fedora 25 Gnome here, just switched recently, loving it so far.
  21. This is Fedora 25, yours may look slightly different depending what the default on Ubuntu is. See how my theme is set to "Vertex-Dark"?
  22. You simply change back to the default theme. Themes are just selectable via a dropdown menu, let me show you mine.
  23. Yes you just need to find that theme (I would probably search for "osx gnome theme") and you just set it in the tweak tool. You will need to install gnome-tweak-tool and gnome-shell-extensions with something like: apt-get install gnome-tweak-tool apt-get install gnome-shell-extensions and some themes also require gtk-engine which should tell you in the instructions what is required.
