  1. All I ever used when bulding/repairing my PC was a screwdriver.
  2. Look at the release date. If it was released recently along with broadwell-e chips, then it was made specifically for this line and doesn't need an update. If it is older, then it was released for haswell-e and therefore does need an update. Also, you are a filthy traitor.
  3. You can google it first and then type it onto PCPP. It's what most ppl do... I think? Remember to use Linus' affiliate link.
  4. You just google "x99 broadwell e motherboard".
  5. Did I say Skylake-E? I actually meant to say Broadwell-E. Skylake-E doesn't exist. Anyway, the manufacturers seem to have abandoned the overused black and red colour scheme, the only board I could find like that is this one from MSI: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130934&cm_mmc=unlocked-_-article-_-broadwell-_-motherboards Motherboards are motherboards. It doesn't make a difference. Unless you buy from a shitty brand like Biostar, that is.
  6. The motherboard is kinda old and might not work with that CPU unless you update its BIOS, and to do this you'd need a Haswell-E chip. Since you probably don't own a Haswell-E CPU, I'd suggest buying specifically a Skylake-E board, basically one of the newer X99 boards that have been specifically released to go along with this newer line of CPUs. Yes. Even in the unlikely event that it does break, Corsair has lifetime warranty on all of their memory, so you'd get a new one.
  7. Using that many 4GB sticks is kind of dumb, get four 8GB sticks instead. You'll still quad channel speeds, even though it won't really make a difference.
  8. Looks great, though the ceiling lights look kinda awkward.
  9. It's PCs, not PC's. Plural never uses apostrophe. Most common Haswell chip is i5 4690K. Also, i7 4790K. Then, there's i5 4460 the Xeon e3 1231 v3, which is the same without hyperthreading. And their equivalents from pre-refresh (like 4770K). So which CPUs do you want? Any Haswell CPU with 4 cores (i5 level) will work as a gaming rig. Full list can be found here: http://pcpartpicker.com/products/cpu/#xcx=0&f=34,40&C=4,22 i3 CPUs can also be used for casual light gaming, as single threaded performance is pretty much on par with their quad-core couterparts.
  10. It doesn't matter which SSD you get, you won't notice any difference.
  11. "How much" is kinda hard to quantify, but basically stuff would load faster. You won't really see a difference from one SSD to another, so it doesn't matter. If you want to support Linus, click the ad with the A-Data SSD on the top right, and buy that one.
  12. I tried studying Philosophy at University once, and it was kind of garbage. They don't really teach you how to philosophize and think for yourself. You get taught sociology, anthropology, logic, greek mythology, general history, and maybe (just maybe) history about past philosophers. And other random crap that I never got to, because I dropped out after just 2 months. It was boring as fuck.
  13. I bet you could get them from any decent PC repair shop for free if you asked nicely enough, since ppl don't use DDR2 anyway.
  14. Well, no. Technically, the krakens are less accurate.
  15. Which means you can get 4 sticks of 4GB each, for a total of 16GB? And throw the other 1GB sticks into the trash can where they belong?
  16. One should always have a good quality PSU in their rig.
  17. If a pair of headphones allows you to distinguish certain tones that a different pair of headphones is unable to reproduce, wouldn't you say that the first one is objectively better?
  18. Actually the CX series aren't known for being very good. There are better options.
  19. In what way is it limited to 4GB? Does the motherboard only have 1 RAM slot? Cause that CPU does support more than 4GB...
  20. First you type @ then you type their name afterwards @asand1 like that. When you do, it should give you a popup with the name of the person that you can click to link their name. It's kind of similar to Facebook.
  21. I know, but technically the fact that Krakens are shit is an opinion. Technically. Yes, they sound bad, but you can't prove it with hard facts. Or can you?
  22. @asand1 Sorry I have this bad habit of not reading posts thoroughly before replying and thought you meant that he should nuke his SSD, my bad.
  23. I'm connecting via Czech Republic with my VPN and it's working. How do I get it to not work?
