  1. I wonder what good ol' Zmeul is up to right about now...
  2. I'm overwhelmed... This is my latest haul I got for 80$. The computers might look super boring, but they are NOT! There are three MSI SLI ready z97 motherboards here, and the rest are sandy/ivy bridge boards. The dummy thick case on the right is a dual socket 771 server board with 8 RAM slots. I don't even know what to do with all this, but holy shit. But yeah, these cases look really deceiving, when I first saw them I thought "oh boy, more 775 PCs", welp, I WAS WRONG. The monitor was a pretty decent 1080p monitor, but it's busted. Oh well, I didn't pay for it so no loss!
  3. Even though I've never even owned an Intel Mac before I got this, It's super nostalgic for me too. Back in 2007 when my cousin got one, the main computer of my house was a 400mhz Pentium II, I'd use it to watch Youtube and browse Gamefaqs and stuff. So as you can imagine, I was used to slow, pages taking their time, frequent freezing, 4 fps Youtube videos, etc. My mind was completely blown when I used the Macbook. When I think back to it, it was also my first encounter with a multicore processor, and my first encounter with a 64 bit processor, even though I didn't even know what that meant at the time.
  4. Well, Zen 2 is supposedly a good bit more efficient, but oh yeah it's still gonna be a massively power hungry CPU.
  5. Hate to be the "WAIT FOR X!!11!" guy, but this is a terrible time to build a PC. Zen 2 is coming out in less than a month, wait for reviews.
  6. Latest rescue: A Macbook a1181 I got for 5 bucks. Thing was nasty as hell, had all sort of marks on it, etc. Cleaned it up, swapped the busted HDD out for a 120GB SSD I had laying around, upgraded it from 1GB 667 to 4GB 800 and installed Mavericks (because 10.10+ is ugly as shit and this thing isn't really gonna do much anyway). For web browsing, it's still just fine. People underestimate what a 2.0ghz Duo is still capable of. 720p60 youtube videos run at full speed and I have the latest version of Firefox, so it's not obsolete yet. As for gaming, I mainly just stick to old console emulators these days anyway so this old thing could satisfy me. Mainly just happy to have a functional Intel Mac around, even if it is the bare minimum. But it's enough power to run my game, so if I ever get to do a Mac port later on I'll have hardware to do some basic testing on without borrowing anything. I've got a battery on the way too, though it's an ebay cheapy so I don't expect much. Haha, it'll probably still have better battery life than my actual laptop.
  7. Who knows if these leaks are true, hell they're probably not, but just guesses. Easy guesses at that, because would it really be THAT surprising if they had a 64 core threadripper? They have 16 on mainstream boards now.
  8. Soooo.... RTX 2070 performance at a 2070 price.... Ummmm... Yay? I'm so excited... Edit: EXCUSE ME, slighty betterish performance than the 2070 for a slightly lower price. Also, the 5700 might be really cool.
  9. I know I didn't forget that, and it makes perfect sense. So they could have just included vesa mount holes on the back or included the mount adapter... But I guess the holes would look "ugly" and besides, they couldn't get that extra 200$ out of you if they did that.
  10. Again, the "other companies charge absurd prices, so that makes this okay too" mindset is really stupid and is just plain harmful. Excusing and supporting this behavior can only make it happen more often. Also, implying that criticism of a 1000$ single monitor stand is just a "band wagon" makes my head hurt.
  11. Not a good comparison at all. This is a monitor ad mocking the cost of a monitor stand. Makes perfect sense to me And bringing red into this isn't making it better, I really don't like the mindset of "well this other company pulls this kind of bullshit too so that makes it okay!".
  12. Who gives a crap about the pro display, that's completely irrelevant. This is about charging 1000$ for a fucking stand.
  13. Still rocking 7. Though a modified Windows 8.1 is a great OS, and I'll probably be switching to that at some point if Windows 7 starts to really fall behind.
  14. Strange, I could have sworn we've had a solution to the notch problem this whole time.. Oh yeah, they're called bezels. Damn, my S5 is really ahead of the times.
  15. Sooo.... Smash n Splash. :D

  16. I could see myself wanting one if battery life truly is good, the CPU performance looks fine considering I still find Core 2 Quads fine. And I don't game beyond emulators on my laptop anyway, if it can run netplay Melee, I'm set.
  17. Well considering the age of leaks, it seems perfectly reasonable that some stuff would change. Also, on a side note I find it beautiful how AMD is the one sandbagging now.
  18. 16 cores is definitely coming. The 3700x is a single CCX module, the AM4 CPUs have up to two CCX modules. What's 8x2? Also, When Adored gloating video?
  19. This AMD naming bullshit needs to quit. Also, if they really were just changing their numbering scheme to match Ryzen 3rd gen, why not call it RX 3x00 instead of 30x0? It's clearing what they're trying to pull here.

At this point I'm convinced I have the best Goo…

riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip I've been spoiled, my Goodwill is the shit. My main display as well as over half of all my monitors are from there. My broke ass wouldn't have this much cool stuff without it.
  21. Logitech g610 orion brown for $1.21 at the Goodwill. Xbox 360 controllers FTW. I've gotten almost a dozen at em at the goodwill and they make wonderful HTPC controllers. There's a "mod" you can do to the dpads to make them suck less too, basically you just cut a circle of plastic (like from a coffee can lid) and place it under the dpad, makes them clickier and more satisfying. There's guides out there if you're interested.
