  1. Past hour
  2. Corsair usually handle spikes fine, I ran a 3080 on an RM650x for a while and it never tripped. When it comes to 4000 series they have less severe spikes than the 3000 did.
  3. btw when I have more money I am planning on buying a 6700K so no need for cpu&mobo upgrade
  4. Changing out the PSU is typically quite simple. You start by unplugging and removing all the power cables (24 pin, EPS CPU, PCIe, SATA, ect.) from the system. You may have to remove a case fan or two to unplug the CPU power cable. Then take out the four screws that hold the PSU in place and remove the PSU. You'll find these screws on the same side as the PSU's switch. Now reverse the process to install the new PSU. It may get more complicated in a small form factor case. IMPORTANT: Cables from one PSU are unlikely to be compatiable with another PSU. Never use PSU cables with any PSU other that isn't the one they came with, unless you have triple checked that the cables are compatiable.
  5. I already have most of the parts including the cpu, so it’s pointless scrapping my perfectly fine parts and starting over from scratch. I am planning on using the 6500 untill it is ulable to use and btw sry for the late replie. I an buying the cpu cooler, the case and the second ssd.
  6. Doesn't SMB Multichannel mean you can just plug both into the LAN and call it a day now? Of course that wont stop file transfers slowing down the Internet on that PC, but those file transfers will take half as long.
  7. It's the difference between terabytes (base 10 that people use) and tebibytes (base 2 that computers use). 2 TB = 1.8 TiB.
  8. Even a 12600kf would be plenty for most stuff with thise GPUs and they’re dirt cheap right now. The advent of e-cores means productivity is pretty damn good on it too. Also, points for the microcenter bundle deal on it.
  9. Statements like this are the exact reason why today’s software is written this way: a text editor eats half a GiB of RAM while idling, two web browser windows force you to close one other application so you won’t run out of resources… I know, “we” (who?) “all” have “unlimited resources” now. That’s not because computers have become any faster - it’s because software has become greedy.
  10. Uh idk the exact model but it says it’s from ‘micronics’ btw I live in south korea so sorry for late replie
  11. Looking through that list earlier: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 - it's cheap, too cheap? A twin 120mm tower. I know 7800X3D has a reputation for not using much power during gaming, but wonder if I should get something nicer? Could try it regardless as I can always move it to other systems if I later decide to replace it. Was the main reason for picking out the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo that it is CL30? Which is pretty low and actually gives me concern it has a higher chance of problems than more relaxed timings. Any alternatives?
  12. This stuff can run on a 200$ office dell from a couple years ago. No need for a gpu literally nothing uses it and you have a igpu also no need for any of this fancy stuff. Just get an 8th gen i5 or better office pc. Put a ssd + 2 hard drives in there. Put the drives in raid 1 or have one bigger and one smaller where the smaller does a file history backup to the bigger one. Also dump some ram in it. Or get like an hp z640, dell t series workstation,... anything that is a workstation with a xepn v3/xeonv4 support. Have a cloud backup solution for important data For the vms proxmox, esxi, unraid, hyper-v,... use whatever you please As is this is not really an efficient system and costs A LOT for very little that you get
  13. Yeah, that motherboard is designed for a few very specific SuperMicro chassis. Older SuperMicro stuff isn't terribly expensive on the used market. Either that or switch platforms to something like a PowerEdge R720 or T620. Those support the same processor family and have more RAM slots, and they're almost literally a dime a dozen these days.
  14. To the right of the URL, click the T Wait nvm that doesnt give links
  15. Hmm, fair enough. I could potentially pick up a Seasonic Vertex GX-850 or a be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 850W (both of them are priced the same, and only a few euros more than the 750W variants, so might as well go 850 for like 8 euros extra lol) A slight concern is that I have no clue how much effort swapping a PSU is. Apart from upgrading the basics in this system (GPU, RAM, SSDs) I didn't do anything else. And I've been quite busy, so don't really have a day to put aside to get it figured out for a few weeks from now
  16. TR is already very inexpensive, at least in the US, so why buy it used when it can be had for so little, Paul? Yes, I really don't think it's a good idea to buy used, especially from someone you don't know. Now, if they have a receipt, you might think that the AIO was only used for a maximum of now minus the delivery date. However, if they person has purchased that particular AIO several times over time, you could be looking at a newer receipt for an older product unless there's a serial number on the product and paper. Fraud has ramped up a lot with the Chinese (and others) trying to destroy markets with fakes. My uncle buys and sells antique glass objects and he has told me about this problem. I tried selling some antique records (LPs) on eBay and the buyer (probably just one although there were multiple consecutive offers) did their best to trick me into not just going off eBay but to sending gift cards. They sweetened the "deal" by offering to pay more than the whole thing was worth AND wanted to send it to someone else's address. Maybe the guy's legit, but you never know. As I think I told you before (and others), why get the Edge when the Notte and Magic Scenic V2 have much stronger pumps for probably $10 more?
  17. Should be doable. It'll let you know by turning off/chrasing your system if it doesnt work.
  18. My concern is that GPUs often experiance momentary spikes in power draw. This is apparently less of an issue on the newer 40 series cards than it was on 30 series cards but I still have concerns. Tbf, the PSU should protect your hardware if it turns out that 650W wasn't enough, so I guess you could just try the 650W and see how it goes. But I'd 750W now instead of having to make two seperate upgrades.
  19. MB: B450 Tomahawk MAX CPU: Ryzen 7 3800X RAM: 2x DDR4 16GB G. Skill 3600C16 (running at: 3266, as any higher causes my system to BSOD at random moments during gameplay) Storage: Samsung 990 PRO + Heat sink 2TB (M.2 PCIe Gen 3 x 4) & a Samsung 980 1TB (in a PCIe Gen 3 x 4 NVMe adapter card (PCIe 3.0 x4 to M.2))
  20. The switch is factory doesn't even have a config file which is what I'm trying to upload to it
  21. Entirely loose from this why is the back fan in reverse? Onto the subject seems you have a preowned board or something where a wifi card had been instaled previously. Try looking for 2 tiny wires that are hidden under that vrm shroud. Whats under that luke skywalker shroud thingy?
  22. Hmmmm....interesting....so, did you comment on my question about buying a used Thermalright Frozen Edge on here? As usual, I just sit on the fence so I didn't buy it and the other problem was I didn't want to drive where he lives and he doesn't want to drive to where I am (but, there might be a reason to drive pretty close so I left it up to him) - it was a savings of $40 or so - I can't remember now. I am guessing you would advise me to pass for your reasons expressed above?
  23. Honestly its gonna be 50/50. Worst case it just shuts off and well you know whats rhe issue then already. Whats your other hardware? If its an efficient cpu and such you could do it. As for cables you're fine the card comes with a 3x8 pin adapter and you have 2 2x6+2 pin cables.
  24. No A pure 4 core i5 is basically gonna have stuttering in almost every big game since 2018 they are not good. A 7700k is usually EXTREMELY overpriced and gets its ass handed to it by todays super budget new offerings. It is a 4 core 8 thread cpu which is the current minimum so it is going to be ok ish for now but dont expect it for long. I would avoid this generation from intel and if the budgey is low just get a new or used am4 cpu + board
  25. @Tegneren @PDifolco I always find it easier to just scroll down to the cable list The PSU has enough PCIe 6+2 cables, but I'd still be concerned that a 650W PSU wouldn't be powerful to run a 4080 Super. I my opinion OP should get a 750 or 850W PSU (depending on their other hardware).
  26. Kinda confused now I asked before and got told by multiple people it'd be fine: Full specs in that thread too. It was a gift, but yea, I could spend $150. My initial plan was to use the 4080 Super on this PSU for a while until I also upgrade my MOBO, CPU & Case, so I don't have to redo PSU installation in current case and just do it all in 1 new case, once. But if it's what needs to happen, it needs to happen On the Corsair website, it says "QTY: 3 | PCIe 8 pin (6+2) cable". Would have to double-check if correct first, I suppose? As for heavy load: the GPU will be bottle necked by the rest of my hardware until I upgrade CPU, so I wonder if it'll even be able to get to such high loads?
