AOC G2460PF 120 Hz over HDMI Testing

The AOC G2460PF supports HDMI 1.4. I will now demonstrate it operating at 1920 × 1080 @ 120 Hz over HDMI. These tests are performed with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti, which also only supports HDMI 1.4.   Display Settings Demonstration These settings show the G2460PF (EDID identifies itself as the "2460G4", Windows however does not read the name) connected via HDMI at 1920 × 1080 @ 120 Hz with full RGB color. A custom resolution was necessary to expose the 120 Hz option (CVT-

ViewSonic XG2401 144 Hz over HDMI Testing

The ViewSonic XG2401 supports HDMI 1.4. I will now demonstrate it operating at 1920 × 1080 @ 144 Hz over HDMI. These tests are performed with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti, which also only supports up to HDMI 1.4. Display Settings Demonstration These settings show the XG2401 connected via HDMI on both ends at 1920 × 1080 @ 144 Hz with full RGB color. How to Read the Product Description

"My laptop only has an HDMI port. I want to connect to the DisplayPort input on my monitor. Can I use this inexpensive DP to HDMI adapter I found on Amazon?"   To answer this question, we must apply some reading skills:                   No, you can't.

Think beyond computer problem solutions than just knowing them

Fixing computers is always a satisfying thing. Especially after chugging away at it for hours or even days. And when you come across the solution, you tuck it away in your memory, notebook, or what have you so the next time the problem shows up, you can fix it again. But I don't think that's enough to really "master" the computer.   I'm having a feeling that a lot of people who are beyond beginners accumulate solutions to problems or at least know how to find them online and simply spo

HP Pavilion Elite Makes Me Money

Hey guys,   This is the pc I bought which got me into PC's and flipping them. I got this pc for 110 dollars.  It came with a keyboard, mouse, Logitech speakers, and monitor. This was when I barely knew that I could take the side cover off a computer. I really liked this computer, it had an i7 and to me, at the time I thought i7 was the best. I didn't even know there were different version and generations of the i7. Here is how this Hp Pavilion made me money. Before I sold the computer

PC Part Lot

This a PC part lot that I got for 100 dollars and I have no idea if anything works.... I will find out later and post about it again! When I first pulled to this house to buy these parts, I was already a little sketched out considering the location I was at and I was somewhere I was not familiar. The person selling all these components had found them in the basement of a house that she was currently flipping. When I first got all of this, I was super pumped. Considering that all of my stuff

Well, witchart was my handle and I still use it today.   Over the last 20 years, I have built hundreds of Pc's for friends and family also myself but they have always been your cheap office type and sometimes a cheap gaming pcs. Nothing that looked really good and defiantly no water cooling or RGB.

Project Dolly: A look into cloning Windows (Conclusions)

It's earlier than I'd said I would report this but for reasons I'm choosing to wrap up this experiment.   In day-to-day usage, I still haven't ran into any problems. Granted I did not play any games on the laptop, but I did run 3DMark after the cloning. However supposedly people do have issues regardless if they game or not. I also may not have been exactly representative of the use case, since I didn't clone after say a year of use. Though I can't think of anything that would cause is

Project Dolly: A look into cloning Windows (Preliminary Results)

A couple of days ago, I decided to examine if cloning Windows was as bad as everyone says it would be, in that you'll run in to problems and other issues. So I'm using my laptop as a test bed for this project to see if anything really happens if you clone Windows.     When I started this project, I installed Windows 10 Fall Creator's Update to the laptop's SSHD, then installed programs that I would've used in a normal setting, and imported the settings of two of them (Visual Stud

Project Dolly: A look into cloning Windows (Planning)

I'll admit something. If there's one topic I typically stay away from because it seems like everyone has a consensus on the subject, it's cloning Windows installations from an HDD to an SSD. The consensus is it's always better to just reinstall the OS. While there are some practical reasons, the most common ones I've heard to avoid cloning is because you'll encounter a plethora of issues. I've found this puzzling considering: I've cloned multiple times with no ill effect I don't un

The first thing we had to do was get Frank's scary dog out of the RV. So, we did the classic cartoon "give a dog a bone" routine and Cujo became Scooby Doo just like that.   Frank's RV was pretty much what I expected—drug dealer trash chic. But it wasn't as serial killer as I feared. We ransacked the place and found what Chloe didn't want us to find...   I'm sorry Chloe had to see the pictures of Rachel posing for Frank, even if she did care about him. To her it's just anothe

Despite David's evidence and the bracelet, Chloe refused to believe Rachel was involved with Frank. This is a part of Chloe I don't much like: she gets so damn petulant if she doesn't get her way. Or if she hears something she doesn't like. Serious denial. I get why, but that doesn't make dealing with it any easier. So I threw my hands up and suggested we check out Frank's RV.   I knew that would piss Chloe off and she would do anything to find out what kind of relationship he had with

Which was a perfect cue for Chloe to bounce into the room and start shit with Joyce. This gave me cruel cover so I could sneak into the garage and finally unlock David Madsen's X-treme Files..."   So today I finally found out what was in David's secret files... and I admit, I expected it to be worse. I'm relieved that it wasn't, so maybe I'm going easier on him than I should. No surprise that he had detailed files on Kate AND Rachel listing their whereabouts along with surveillance pic

When I went down to breakfast, Joyce actually called me "Rachel" which just seems so wrong considering how beautiful she is and how boring I am. I guess my new outfit really is working its magic. I ended up helping Joyce make breakfast just like when I was a kid on a sleepover. It's odd how quickly you can fall back into an old routine.   So I must have set off Joyce's "nostalgia mode" since she busted out ye olde photo album. I'm one of the few people who loves checking out old pictur

Even though my body smelled like I had been doused in chlorine, it was so nice to crash in Chloe's room for the first time in five years and wake up next to her like our old sleepovers... For some reason, it reminded me of the time we were going to TP one of the neighbor's houses and we even snuck out but got chicken and ran back home, laughing all the way...   I remember waking up the next day and Joyce was making one of her delish breakfasts downstairs and Chloe smiled at me like we

I love that Chloe brings out the "just don't give a fuck" side of me. Even if that hasn't always served her well. She deserved a moment of not giving a shit. Me too. Just two friends goofing around in the pool. I fear those youthful shenanigans might soon be a thing of our past... God, I'm starting to sound like one of the teachers at Blackwell...   Chloe and I had a nice chat about our lives since I left... We talked about dumb boys and girls and why they're trouble... especially for
