New Gaming PC! (Budget)

Coolnesgamer

Hello everyone!, I'm planing to build a new Gaming PC For $800-$900 NZ ( about $650 US).

I really want to be able to play next gen titles (bf4, watch dogs etc) at medium to high settings @ 30 fps min.

This is what I've come up with so far, but I would love to hear any suggestions on what I can improve from you guys! (please don't go over budget)

CPU Amd Fx-6300 @3.5GHz 6 core $163.31

MOTHERBOARD ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0 AM3+ $117.00

RAM G.Skill Ripjaws XSeries 8gb (2 x 4) 1600 DDR3 $126.00

STORAGE 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue 7200RPM $98.00

VIDEOCARD  (Edited)

GIGABYTE GV-N65TBOC-2GD GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST 2GB

CASE Antec One ATX Mid Tower Case $88.21

PSU Corsair VS550 550 watt  $76.00

Total $864.12

Thanks, Brandon

You can find 7950s and 7870s for the price or less than what you're spending on that 650ti and these radeon cards beat the 650 ti by a large margin.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150590 $230 after rebate (yes I know. I don't like rebates either but 7950 is a good card)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125418 Otherwise you could save some money on the graphics card and go with a 7870

If you're dead set on Nvidia I'd suggest getting a 700 series card. Like a 760.

In short if you want to play next-gen games, you have overspent on items like the RAM, motherboard and CPU and underspent on the graphics card.

I'm not sure what stores you have in New Zealand, but in Australia I could make a better budgeted system quite easily - do you have a link to the website you're purchasing from?

I would but for some reason the prices are higher then the 650 ti So i might just stick with that.

Does anyone have cheaper ram available? and does the speed of the ram matter? 1333MHz/1600MHz

CPU:  AMD FX-4300 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($148.10 @ Aquila Technology)

reason for - should be able to overclock it to 4.1-4.3ghz if you want

CPU Cooler:  Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($56.35 @ PB Technologies)

reason for - amd cpus tend to run a bit hot from my under standing, also this cheap air cooler will suffice for a mild overclock.

Motherboard:  Gigabyte GA-970A-D3P ATX AM3+/AM3 Motherboard  ($152.00 @ Paradigm PCs)

reason for - seems like a pretty decent motherboard with 6 sata 6gb/s and crossfire support

reason for - it looks nicer then standard ram. any 8gb ram kit @ 1600 mhz and a cas of 9 will work.

reason for - cheap for us in nz :P

Video Card:  Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card  ($429.00 @ Paradigm PCs)

reason for - its a bit more expensive but itll be supported by the up and coming mantle. its 3gb and has a 384bit bus so itll be able to use more of the Vram avaliable.

Case:  NZXT Source 210 Elite (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case  ($98.00 @ Paradigm PCs)

reason for -cheap lil case doesnt look to bad. your choice and preference though

reason for - fsp seems like a good brand from the research im done on them. try to avoid coolmax and raidmax there psus arent high quality.

Total: $1184.60

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

i know this is a few hundred over (like 300) but this would probably be more ideal

the sweet spot for gaming ram is around 8gb of 1600mhz with a cas of 9

For $1k I can not recommend an fx4130

Drop the cooler and get a 6300

for 1k nz prices? and its 4300*. you can over clock it to be better then the 6300.

why not just get the 4350 if you dont have the cooling for an over clock with the 6300. its clocked at 4.2ghz not 3.5.

i suggested that list as im in new zealand and i know you have to spend more here unless you want to play prev gen games

Using this website, I have managed to accumulate this:

That's the best I can find for New Zealand.

EDIT: What kind of website doesn't include GST? Retarded.

There is a big difference in performance between a 4300 and a 6300, he can buy a cooler later, this isn't rocket science,

theres a few of them LOL i was like yaaaay cheap stuff when i found a website like that then went and sulked when i found out gst was exclusive :/

nice put together for the price, id stills severely recommend a  7950/7970/r9 280x at minimum because its got a 50% wider bus and a extra gig of Vram which by the sounds of bf4 is recommended as i heard it says you need 3gb?

i never said it was rocket science...

if he wants a 6300 he may as well get a 8320 for an extra 80 dollars, atleast then itll be with the competition.

$80 is a bigger difference, there just isn't much price difference between a 4300 and 6300 and he would greatly benefit from the 6300 in games and they are a good OCer and a generally strong cpu from what i have heard from people.

Pretty much impossible to get a 7950 - NZ is broken.

Regarding BF4, recommended requirements are a 2GB+ graphics card in the Radeon 7000 series.

My setup meets all recommended requirements.

i recommended the 7950 because of its wider memory bus and a bit more Vram seems to me like any 7800+ series will suffice just depends on how much you want to spend.

i havnt heard  much about the 6300 over clocked, just know that its not worth getting the 6100 or the 6350 sort of like the decision between the 8320, 8350, 9370, (i think) and the 9590

At OP's budget, I don't really think overclocking is vital - not on an AMD chip with a stock cooler, by any means. Purchasing an after-market cooler is actually something I would discourage as it detracts a lot from the rest of his budget.
