DIY Tips and Guides for modding fightsticks and race wheels

Got a bit of a weird question.  I saw a youtube video recently in which a very well known FGC competitive gamer was showing off his custom made fightstick.  Not only was this something of a masterpiece, but he said that it would apparently work on all platforms!  He went further to state that it would plug and play on PC, PS3, PS4, 360, and Xbone.  He didn't state how he made that happen, only that he did not build it and that it was a very expensive custom stick made for him by a fan.  Now this spiked my curiosity, as I game on literally all platforms, but I refuse to spend almost 200 bucks on a stick that isn't compatible with more than two platforms.  I then started thinking that, if this was possible, then it might also be possible to do the same to a wheel, like the much heralded Logitech G series, particularly the G29 which I've been eyeing pretty hard lately.  So, my question to you people out there in cyber space who are undoubtedly a good bit more intelligent than me in these matters is; how do I go about doing this to a fight stick or wheel in detail?  Where would I go for detailed guides, or better yet, to pay for a custom fightstick or wheel that will work on all platforms.  Thanks in advance for your suggestions!  :)

Oh signature time!  It's on now, gonna give ya somethin snarky and clever and think way too hard about this because I'm really concerned about what people on the internet think of me.  Better google some good quotes to put in here too.....oh wait I'm not a loser.

Check Inside Sim Racing site and youtube for some things on wheels. But here again, as in many other niche part of tech community, google is your best friend.
