Budget Gaming Build, Please Help

Hi,

I want to build a budget Gaming PC. My budget is £400 UK, although if needed I can stretch that to £500 (not including monitor or peripherals). I want to play games like minecraft (with sometimes up to 200 mods), and some steam games like city skylines, beseige, and any others that catch my eye.

I currently am leaning towards the a10 7850k, but I am not sure if it would be good enough. Also, could someone PLEASE tell me why intel are so much more expensive for apparent same specs.

If someone could put a build together, that would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

intel are more expensive than AMD for similar cores/speeds because intel's technology is more advanced, its not all about the amount of cores and the speeds, it is how you use it.

If I was you, I would go on gumtree and get a super cheap but decent PC for £150 and then buy a 970 or 960. Second hand PCs are super cheap for what they are.

Don't buy a GTX 980, it's overpriced! Buy 2 GTX 970s or 2 R9 290s intstead (the R9 290s would even be cheaper)

You can't compare Ghz to Ghz across architectures and especially cross platform, as @Jervi said. At this time Intel is performing much better. You can look at synthetic benchmarks for obvious examples, or look at their performance in games you plan to play for an idea of how a CPU will perform in real world.

£502 best build you could do for this price.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

Thanks for the quick replies! Intel is well beyond my budget anyways, but thanks for letting me know. I refined Gaben The Great's partlist, how does this look? Also, do I need an ssd/what difference would it make?

Intel is more expensive because their chips are superior to AMD in the consumer market.  AMD has no chips in the Extreme bracket either.  THe closest is their monster 220W 4.7Ghz Super overlocked CPU which can beat an i5 in multi-threaded apps.  Forget beating the i7.

For the Best builds and Price lists here is a world where many points of the price have been predefined already for your convenience!

The Xeon E3 1231 V3 IS BETTER Than the Core i5 4690K and a Significantly better value for the non-overclockers or value shoppers.

The OS is like a kind food, Try it before saying if you like it or don't.
