1440p 144hz or 4k 60hz

IceCold007

Seriously thinking of upgrading my Monitor after I upgrade my GPU this year.

ATM I using 1080p 120hz monitor and tbh I cant fault it. Then again ive not seen 1440p or 4k up close so I cant compare both. Trust me ive tried looking in shops etc.

I not sure which is best. Before I got my 120hz monitor I upgraded from 1080p 60hz and going from 60hz to 120hz was wonderful.

I want to upgrade but im stuck for choice . I can go 1440p 144hz which is a the sweetspot most people are saying or I can go 4k 60hz.

I like the 120hz so 1440p 144hz seems the best bet atm. But I am the kind of guy which likes max graphics etc, so going 4k you will get better graphics at 4k over 1440p.

Any suggestions. I don't think there will be any 4k 144hz monitors coming out this year at least.

Is it worth waiting till hardware catches up to 4k and then get a 4k monitor or get a 1440p 144hz. I really don't want to lose the 144hz and go back to 60hz but then again I want the improved graphics at 4k.

Like I said decisions.

I will be using my pc mainly for gaming and general stuff and abit of graphic design work for home use.

1440p 144hz. The 1440p is more than enough, and, when you add the 144hz, it just can't get any better.

But I recommend getting the XL2730Z. It has the best colors out of all 1440p 144hz monitors, and it's got some features that improve the gaming experience.

4k is insane, unless you run flagship videocards in sli/cf, but even then it is hard to drive demanding games. I'd suggest 1440p and be happy with it for a couple of years. There are some really nice 1440p 144hz monitors that came to market in the last few months

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.

If only they brought out a 4k 144hz monitor then things would be clear lol

Reason they don't have that is because no one can drive 144fps at 4K

1440p 144hz...    the acer xr341ck to be honest....

1440p is dense enough already, MUCH better improvement to see that REAL 144hz than a bit more pixel density

They dont think like that ... luckily.

No, the reason is cable bandwidth limitation.

Displayport 1.3  should be released this year and will make 4k 120hz possible.

Still it's not worth the millions of dollars it takes to develop and produce a 144hz 4K monitor for the very few people who have 2 way or 4 way Titan X configs

Speak for yourself. Id play the fuck out of source games with a single 970 or somerhing on a 144hz 4k.
