changing the color of the phoebus sound card to green

so i am going for a green theme build to go around my 780 that i just purchaced. the one thing standing out was the glowing blue/red LED in the phoebus sound card i have. so i came up with a solution. i know its not the best but it does work and it is green so let me begin.

here you can see how the blue looked before the mod;

it stands out a lot more in real life than in the picture. trust me.

heres the card out of my case;

heres the stuff im using. just a pair of scissors, some poly project pockets and some 2-sided tape

(i forgot to mention a screw driver and some glue.)

on the back of the card there are 4 screws.

all i did was take the screws

out and the shroud came right off;

here you can see the LED lights on the pcb. i have no idea how to change those or turn them off since they are soldered to the board;

on the shroud you can see where the light shines through is white;

here on the back of the shroud you can see the white strip the LED's shine through;

im going to take some of the poly project pockets and cut them up and stick them to the back of the shroud;

one piece alone is not enough to change the color to green so i had to glue 3 pieces on top of each other in order for it to work.

once that is done take 2 small pieces of the 2-sided tape and stick them on each side of the white piece on the back of the sound cards shroud;

now take the green "window" that was made earlier and stick it to the back of the white part;

wmplayer2013-06-2023-36-41-26_zps65a8da4

now just put the shroud back on the pcb and install it back into the system;

in the picture some of the red is shining through but in real life i just dont see it. it doesnt shine as much as the rest of the green in the case but it did what i wanted to do and that was change the blue/red led in the phoebus to green.

heres my build log

go check it out B)

Very clever. Very clever indeed.

You could have just put a green led in, it would be greener and brighter.

i dont know how to solder. i wouldnt do that to a $200 piece of equipment anyway.

Soldering isn't that hard but yah I would try to solder a sound card either.

the thing is i would have to unsolder the LED's that are on there now and then solder on new ones. theres just too much of a chance to wreck the thing. theres 6 LED lights on the PCB. 3 red and 3 blue. i know its hard to see in the picture because they are so small but it doesnt look like a very easy soldering job to me.
