Need help upgrading my PC

jcit
Go to solution Solved by Demons Wrath,

It's the CM Storm Scout

Phanteks PH-TC14CS

Get this, I don't think the others are compatible with your case.

pcpartpicker doesn't say Noctua NH-D14 is incompatible, also worth looking at.

These are what you should be considering @MrLogic

I've started playing BF4 on the PC more and my PC is just not good enough to handle it at high settings. It just about makes it at low settings at 60fps. I have £300-400 to spend on an upgrade.

Current:
Intel i5 750 Quad 2.67 GHz
GTX 650 Ti BOOST
Gigabyte P55M-UD2

I'm looking at either upgrading the CPU and mobo to:
Intel i7 4790k
MSI Z97 Gaming 5

Or the GPU to:
MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G

Which option would give me the biggest improvement right now? Could it run it on the high preset at 60?

In gaming, the GTX 970 I should think. It'll be cheaper, but you'll need to upgrade both eventually. By the way, have you ever overclocked your current processor? That will help it shake off the cobwebs. Food for thought.

You should OC it before you upgrade

Because he had a hard drive.

I've considered it but I've never overclocked before. It regularly hits 80-90 Celsius under load. Would that be an issue when overclocking?

Tell me what case you got, I'll try to find a nice good cooler that will fit inside it.

Looks good I'm definitely looking at getting a post-market cooler and the 970.

Thanks for your help
