AMD's CEO changed, now Lisa Su and she plans a change for the company.

Yep, AMD's CEO is also changing, this time is a woman, will she be the bright future of a company as she has proven to be capable of?

This is a quick and dirty translation, if anyone notice mistakes point it out and i'll correct. Everything on Quotes is from the original article

AMD Announced on this wednesday that Rory Read, former company's CEO, just left it's position. Now the executive Lisa Su assumes the position as Chief Executive Officer of the company.

It's said that this is a planned strategic move - Read had already made clear the intentions of getting away from the company a few months ago as part of a "plan of sequence" from AMD.

"She is a professional who likes the semiconductors area and knows it very well. Lisa is ready and this is a right step towards AMD transformation" - Read explained while eulogizing Lisa. One of the measures that shall be implanted from the new politic, is the investment on developing gaming & enterprise components.

She is the first female CEO of AMD, and apparently it's sort of spliting the company as a Computing and Graphics Business Group and the Enterprise, Embedded and Semi-Custom Business Group. Either one with more focus on the market it wants to hit,

Rory is considered by many a transitional CEO, the one who gets the soil ready for the next change, he is known for holding the company together and avoiding losses for the past 3 years, and leaving the post as CEO is a step foward considering market changes.

AMD needs to improve, and if Rory is good at keeping steady and nice but it's not good at getting the market right and improving the profits, the company is doomed to be forgotten or taken as yet another company that makes some common PC stuff. Let's hope AMD go big with this change! We NEED market competition!

New Strategy

Atacking agressively the business sector in the target of the company, reestructurate operations and by this, diverge the segments that are attended by AMD are also part of AMD's plan.

"I Believe the growing in tecnology is paced by the way that we accelerate. Whe want to simplify our company so we can improve our perfomance along with the market"

 commented Lisa.

The Future CEO standed out as executive, that she is ready to assume the position still it's position on Market Strategy, she stopped "hitting the same key" when the stopped attacking rivals such as Intel and NVIDIA. Her focus resides, that way, on emerging consumers - wich shall reveal new commercially unexplored market.

The solid formation on engineeding of the executive is also another differencial. Before engaging along with AMD, the specialist worked for several years for Freescale Semiconductor and IBM - on this one, Lisa was responsible for the strategic direciton of tecnologies, wich resulted on a partnership with the R&D.

"I accredit Rory Read for stabilizing AMD on a time of market crisism but now the company must grow"

Said Patrick Moorhead, consultor and AMD's former employee

My last considerations are that Lisa Su is perfectly capable of changing the way of thinking of AMD, she has been part of the 2 main areas that AMD has -previously- let down, Market Strategy and Product Development. Let's wait and see what surprises she reserves to us!

If I remember correctly, when Rory became CEO is was under the agreement that Lisa would take over.

Rory held AMD together, he did a great job at that. However now they need to innovate to avoid getting into the same situation, which is where Lisa comes in.
