Using old HDD (..And hopefully its files) on a new build.

Hey all, my "issue" was explained in the title really.

Basically i'm moving from the pain of 4GB of DDR2, to an entirely new system.

I understand that I can't use the old OS(Windows 7), but what I want from the old HDD is to use it in my new system, but also keep the old files. (Not the OS, I only want the program files, pictures, etc)

I'm going to install windows 8 on an SSD, but it's only 120GB so I wouldn't dream of using it as a primary storage drive.

Is there a way to keep the files from the old system on the new one? Or will I have to wipe the old hard drive and re-install everything?

It would be best to back up everything you want on a flash drive and just format the drive for a new computer. You can pick a 32gb flash drive for 14 bucks now.

I think I might just do that then, sounds alot simpler.

I don't think you want to keep all the old windows files on the hard drive anyway.
