Twitch now funding projects and selling games

KakaoDj

KitGuru article

So Twitch has started funding games. After the success of "Twitch Plays", a title called "Choice Chamber" emerged. It plans to use player interaction through Twitch, and advance the story via voting. I enjoyed "Twitch Plays Pokémon" a lot, and that concept could really use some love. Anyways, it needed 30 000$, and it seemed as it would not reach it, but then Twitch stepped in and covered the rest of it, which was around 15 000$. I think Twitch makes a lot of money on this type on game where the viewers interact on such a scale, and they want to keep evolving the ecosystem.

Twitch is perfactly placed to be a promo company, it only showcases content. So selling the content goes along nicely with that

Twitch might have solidified itself as a solid way for pro-gamers to make money, by simply streaming their practice sessions, but the service itself is looking to diversify its income beyond advertising. It’s now begun selling games and is looking to help fund future projects.

It's nice to see Twitch quickly evolving, they just might take all of the gamer crowd away from youtube at this rate which is nice if you look at cases like TotalBisquit or Angry Joe (among many other let's players and reviewers) struggling with stupidly misused copyright claims

Twitch is being so nice and positively changing! I love when popular companies/businesses help little people like the dev team who needed a good amount of cash. Win win for everyone

It's nice to see Twitch grow. I only wish they fix the chat lag at some point.

The stone cannot know why the chisel cleaves it; the iron cannot know why the fire scorches it. When thy life is cleft and scorched, when death and despair leap at thee, beat not thy breast and curse thy evil fate, but thank the Builder for the trials that shape thee.
