Replacing bricked motherboard questions

Motherboard bricked and should be getting it back sometime soon from the shop and was wondering when I rebuild my system is there anything I would have to do? Like reinstall drivers, OS or anything like that?

You would have to reinstall the OS I believe. Its locked to the motherboard and you may or may not get a brand new one. Not sure how it works exactly when that happens.

as long as its the same chipset or socket the os will be fine. update the drivers to current ones if any new one have come out, then your good to go again.

They mean if the board that got bricked gets fixed and returned to you, then you'll have no worries. If you receive a separate board of the same make and model, you'll just have to install a fresh OS with drivers, etc.

You might need to reactivate your windows using Phone Activation if you get your motherboard back.

I think if it's exact same board (MSI Z87-G45) you will get it work just fine. You don't have to re-format or anything except you might need to re-activate the windows, especially if it's Win8.

Me and my friend changes whole board and Win8 works without problems on new board even without re-formatting (though I still format them back because I like clean install on new board, my friend don't and still work without problem till today, just need to install new drivers)

So, if you're on Win8 you're good to go except for activation.

If on previous version of Windows, I think you should be good if the board is the same model looking how the drivers to be used is still the same.
