Crackling audio

Go to solution Solved by Lappan95,

Seems to have fixed the issue by disabling my CPU from down clocking in the bios, weird that the cpu downclocking to 800mhz would cause it.

Hi after I purchased my new GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual OC and Case: Corsair Carbide 200R I've been getting crackling audio from my Sound Baster Z pci card.

Tried switching to different pci slots, even the second 16x slot, fresh install of drivers, fresh install of windows, wiped my GPU Drivers and installed the latest ones, tried only installing the Nvidia graphic drivers, updates to latest onboard audio drivers, disabling the onboard and NVIDIA High defenition audio through device manager to no avail.

This issue can randomly come and lasts until I enable "spatial sound windows sonic" and then disable it. Then it's all gone until it comes again.

Anyone else has a clue what I can try next?

Edit: Onboard audio works fine without any issues, it's only when I use my Sound Blaster Z card it happens.

Specs are:

CPU: Intel core 6700k

MB: Gigabyte gaming k3 z170

Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16gb DDR4 2400MHz

GPU: Asus GTX 1070 Dual OC

PSU: Evga supernova g2 650watt

Going to try it in another PC tomorrow to rule it out if it would be faulty.

This probably has nothing to do with your error message, but I had an issue with the onboard audio of an older system.

Horrible static/crackling. Nothing I did made a difference, changed out speakers, new drivers, etc. Nothing.

Turns out my power supply was quietly dying and couldn't provide enough power to my system. Removing the video card, freed up enough power that the sound returned to normal. So, a new PS was in order and all was well with the video card back in the system.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Ive had this issue numerous times. Uninstall your sound driver and then reinstall it.
