if your only doing a small oc I normally leave it auto and just monitor the voltage when stress testing, the problem is the voltage can vary a bit if you leave it on auto and some motherboards will go over 1.4v for no reason or drop to low and make the OC unstable. so for more stability its a good idea to set a solid voltage in the bios

not planing on doing big OC just want to get it to 4.2 but i heard that its better to let the voltage at auto if not playing or forcing the cpu all the time.

i just dont want to ruin the cpu by setting a voltage at a point where the cpu does 4.2 all the time and not doing anything stressful for the cpu.
