Hi guys!

I have a lenovo laptop y700.

Around a year ago it fell and cracked the screen a Little on the edge.

The crack it self doesn't bother me that much its small and on the edge.

But since i got a wierd phenomenon.

Each time i turn on the display there are pink lines flashing on the display.

First It stoped  after less then a minute. So i didn't care.

But as time went on it stayed for longer and became more drastic.

Now it takes it arround  5 minutes to stop.

Does someone knows this phenomenon?

Will the screen die in a few months?

Thanks for the help!

It's probably a damaged or loose connection between the screen and board, more than likely where the cable connection is soldered.

Will it die? Impossible to say for sure but opening and closing the lid is possibly putting stress on the break, it really depends on where the damaged connection is.

You should probably take it to an electronic repair centre and ask them to evaluate it for you because without opening it up and looking it's pretty much guess work.

Main Rig:-

I actually understand in the field a Little and i don't think its a loose connection. thats becouse:

* i dont close the lid. By this point the laptop became stationary. And i just turn off the screen when i am finished with my work

* the phenomenon happens only in the first minutes after its being turned on, if that was a loose connection it would be coming and going.

*i tried pressenig on the broken part and arround it to see if it has any affect of the Phenomena and it doesn't. I even went as far as shaking the whole laptop to see if it will make it go away. It didnt.

Unfortunately my laptop is crucial to my work and study and i cannot part from it(for the near future).so i don't go the electricion. But i have no problem replecing the screen myself. ( but new one is coslty)

Thats why its importent for me to know if i might loose the ability to use it.

Is this a touchscreen? As a PC tech, we don't repair touchscreens. They're a real pain in the ass.

As for normal screen, you take off the bezel and just un-screw it. To get the correct part, there will be a part number you can use on Amazon and find the one you need. You can fix these within 15-30 minutes.

If the screen goes out, yes, you can't use it as a "laptop". In one of your other posts, you did say it's stationary so, you could use a secondary monitor if you wanted to. It shouldn't effect that. If you wanna do some troubleshooting, connect to another monitor and see if it does the same thing. If it doesn't it's more than likely the screen.

Good luck!
