980ti Cleaning

Hello just a quick question about cleaning this GPU. (Its an EVGA SC, so Reference Card)

 

Long story-short, I've had it since launch and I want to extend its life a bit more. It gets to 87-91 at demanding games so if i can keep it lower perhaps I can use it for maybe another 1-2 years, until finally upgrading is justifiable.

What size Allan key to open it with? Any tips on how to clean it (with microfiber cloth or something? Lastly the thermal paste re-applying, I know its a bit different from a CPU.

 

Perhaps a link/video to a guide for the tare down/re-assembly.

Generally you only need to remove the 4 GPU die screws to be able to take off the cooler. Once you do this, just use some Isopropyl alcohol to clean the old thermal paste off and apply a liberal amount as you need to make sure you cover the whole die. Lastly, take and clean the heatsink with compressed air as best you can. This should help you reduce thermals and extend the life of the card.
