My pc just came in the mail, and I have gone to the options to reset everything and did not choose to keep the files. After a while of it resetting it eventually said that it couldn't remove everything and to do try again. Right not it's installing windows 10 and don't know if I need to reset it again or has it already reset everything?

This is Windows 10

So it's installing a fresh version of W10 right now? If that's the the case it might just save some files in a folder called 'Windows.old' if you didn't format the drive or delete the partitions.

How would I format the drive and or delete the partitions? I just want to make sure I have no viruses on here

Has the fresh install of W10 completed?

You can format the drive and delete the partitions when you choose where to install W10

Be careful though if you don;t have any windows 10 installation media (Bootable USB drive or Windows CD)

Does this screen look familiar?

Finished installing, I created a new user/pass and it never asked me where to install Windows. Is it possible to just format it through the Disk Management?

NO DONT FORMAT YOUR DRIVE!!!!!   Unless you have a way to reinstall from scratch (USB bootable or Windows installation CD) you won't have an operating system then!!!!

Look for a folder called 'windows.old'

You wont be able to delete it but you can clean it up using the disk cleanup utility.

Type cleanup in the windows search, it should bring up' Disk Cleanup'  press enter or click on it.

In the pop up box there will be an option to 'clean up system files'  there will  be a load of checkboxes, make sure 'previous windows installations' is the only checked box, click OK......Done :)

Sorry for the late reply, but there is no option to check a 'previous windows installations', should I just continue with the cleanup with what's already checked?

All good  :)

You have a fresh install (as fresh as you can get without reinstalling from USB/DVD) got rid of the old windows files, you're good to go :D
