Problem with microphone

Hi LinusTechTips Forum,

  I have an earphone and a Headphone/Microphone jack. I was talking to my friend using that earphone, he somehow could hear me using the computer's sound. Any ideas how to prevent that?

sometimes it is the headset itself. One thing you could try is plugging it into a different port if you can. I know for my old pc you hear the game if I plugged it into the front but then when I plugged my headset directly into the motherboard it worked fine.

I only have 1 port

I am not an expert but it could be because of your headset. That is most likely what it is. Depending on what program you were using to talk to him you might be able to just the sensitivity of of the mic and that might help too. If that does not help you might want to invest in maybe a USB headset and maybe a separate mic. I would get opinions from others first before you go and buy a headset from my word though.
