Hello!

I started streaming streaming in the last six months and it feels that my CPU starts to be the product that underperforms particullry when streaming.

My build:
Motherboard, Z97-G5.
Processor, i7 4790k.
Cooler, NZXT cracking x61.
RAM, Corsair Venganve 2133mhz.
GPU, Gigabyte G1 1070.

My screen setup consists of three screens
2x 1080p 60 / 144hz

1x1440p, 144hz (main screen)

Gaming on 1440p makes me downscale the obs stream to atleast 1080p. I want to have a stream where I stream in 1080p; 30fps but gladly 60fps too.

I streamed very regualary in the beginning but since i dont get the performance i want i pulled out of it.

Now the big question, which new CPU should I get?
Right now I'm thinking between i7 8700k/9700k and AMD Ryzen 2700x and i really cant decide.
Then comes the third option, buy a new cpu and have the old one in a streaming computer with a capture card.
But then again, is it worth it for a hobby streamer? Is a 4790k good enough for a "streaming pc"?

I live in Sweden and the max price i want to pay for a new cpu is 5000kr (550usd).

Thanks in advance for the responds!

Tried encoding on your GPU instead of the CPU? Barring that, if you're playing at a refresh rate lower than 100-120Hz, the R7 2700X will be much better than the 8700K for streaming since it's better in multicore due to actually having more cores/threads.

Yes i have and i dont get the frames i want. I play on a 144hz refresh rate and on single player games im fine with a 60fps. Lets say BO4 i want to maintain a 144hz+ .

Dont forget whilst streaming

Defo go for the 8700K then, it should be a beast if you get a good cooler and OC it to 5Ghz. My 8600K is, and the 8700K is just that with twice the threads.
