Does watching TV affect Wifi?

Go to solution Solved by r2724r16,

Your TV takes up bandwidth, slows down your connection.

So when I play games and my parents are watching TV my ping seems to spike more. I thought TV had nothing to do with wifi but this happens at the same time coincidently. Can anyone help me figure this out? Thank YOU!

Is this TV streaming over the internet?

In search of the future, new tech, and exploring the universe! All under the cover of anonymity!

Depends on your bandwidth and type of connection.

If you have say a 30meg connection and they are streaming netflix. You wont notice a thing. Now if you are both wireless, yea its going to use wireless time slots slowing down other connections, even worse if one device has terrible signal.

Also in terms of connection, if you have cable you might notice slight impact where as if you have DSL, depending on your copper it could be fine or it could kill your connection altogether.

I wouldnt tell your grandma to stop watching TV because you want to play games. Like fuck dude, let her enjoy the rest of her life.
