Hi, I play Destiny 2 mostly on a PC with the specs listed below. I'm running two 1080 TI in SLI and I'm getting what I would consider mediocre performance given my setup. I get framerates as low as 30 FPS. During game play, I might be hovering in the 45 - 70 range. I do occasionally get into 100+ but that's usually in menus or load screens. Given I'm running two 1080ti cards in SLI, I'm expecting a lot more performance than that.

I haven't tested on other games, as Destiny 2 is really the only game I play. Maybe this is a problem specific to D2?

I've done some logging using MSI Afterburner, which I've attached. This data was during a gameplay session over only about 10 minutes. I loaded into an area, ran around, shot a few things.

I was wondering if people have have suggestions on what else I could look at or optimize? Or if it's time to upgrade my CPU/Mobo.

I think you are hitting a CPU bottleneck.

You'll need to buy a better CPU, and this will require a platform upgrade (CPU, RAM, and motherboard).

Nvidia drivers are up to date as well. I've also tried going back to ~411.xx. I think current is ~416.xx.

To be clear, 30 FPS was hit maybe once. The bottom is usually around 40-45 FPS; but that 40-45 FPS is common when I load into large environments in the game.

The average CPU usage is between 30% and 60% across the cores. I don't have a number for the variance, but it doesn't seem like either stat is maxing out.

CPU usage isn't always definitive. Individual core usage might be more indicative but also not always. That 1600MHz RAM isn't helping either.

I just bought the same stuff pretty much. But only running regular 1080’s. It’s alot better but still wouldn’t call it “playable”. But I’ve only played one game on it and that prolly won’t change for a year.

It's a lot better than what exactly? And what wouldn't you call "playable"? I'm a little confused.

my 8700k is better than my 4790k or 4770k. But the lag and stutter is still there. So inhibiting gameplay still. For me at least.

What game do you play?

Currently just black ops 4. As my has been limited in the past 4 cods though black ops 3 was manageable. Bf1 had similar issues but only half the maps. Just seems that asking the 8700k to handle two cards in these games is a bit much.
