help- vpn is blocked

problem:

 

Some sites, games and other things such as hamachi are blocked by my school.

As i am sleeping here, i want to walk past this, so please don't say shouldn't you be learning then?

I already tried hotspotshield, tunnelbear, and some others, but it seems that all of these kind are blocked, although http://hidemyass.com works.

I considered using an unused router at home as a vpn server. I know it is possible with it (found it in the settings) and i did look around a bit, (i tried to use dyndns since the ip at home is not static) 

but i got stuck, because my networking skills are not quite over 9000

 

any help, toughts, or sugestions are welcome

This is possible if you can flash your router with DD-wrt. But it's probably going to be slow as hell.

I assume you tried Tor? Admittedly it can be slow.

setting up your router as a VPN server would not fix anything as it would still need to connect to a external server VPN that is not blocking stuff.

 

I would recommend you to get a service like Private Internet Access, they support openVPN that can use TCP and thus port 80 which will not be blocked.

Most good routers can also act as a openVPN client so that way your whole network is on the VPN.

i already have looked at dd-wrt, but as my linksys_xxxx supports vpn and services such as dyndns.org and 1 other ddns service

i will have to look up Tor, but i want to be able to game and use skype at the same time, so i dont want toooo much lag

As long as it uses openVPN that will work, most other VPN's will still be blocked as the use a port that isn't 80

I found a product which is peer to peer proxy and fast , its name is olive and yes its free so i think it would be helpful
