I have built my first gaming computer 2 years ago and have been upgrading it since. I have yet to even try and overclock. I have a couple questions though. It is worth it, and how to I begin? Should I overclock my video card first or my CPU first? I already have a nice, FTW video card. My current build will be listed below, so I don't get questioned about it below.

CPU - AMD X6 Phenom II 1100t (Standard at: 3.3ghz)

CPU COOLER - Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus

GPU - Nvidia GeForce EVGA 670 GTX FTW

RAM - 16gb of Corsair LP (1600)

CASE - Corsair 400r

I think you should overclock the cpu for sure, since you'd see a relatively large benefit from it in real life performance.

since the 1100t is an unlocked processor all you really need to do is raise the multiplier ,test it with prime95 for 4+ hours minimum to see if it's stable, and if not raise the voltage until it becomes stable (though don't raise it too high, check forums to see what the safe voltages are).

for the GTX 670, I don't think that you'd see much of a benefit in overclocking it.

Simply turn off all the Auto stuff in your BIOS, then start to up multiplier of CPU, boot into windows, run Prime 95 to see if its stable, if not, up the voltages, i wouldn't recommend going over 1.5v though, an keep am eye on those temps, I use HWmontiter. Gud luck!

Also, OC'ing the GPU will give you a few more FPS in your games too, so OC;ing them both would benefit you, i would say CPU more as i think that a 670 with a 1100t would be a bottleneck, not sure though. have fun!
