Besides reading that thread, it's simply using your computer to calculate stuff. If the calculations are correct you get coins

I heard you could get rich off of it or get poor off of it. I'm not interested in purchasing/mining (or whatever you do) but I just want to know what it is. I'm expecting a lot of hate for some reason...
