stupid keyboard backlight issue

so i have an MSI GS72 6QC, and it has a really annoying issue. 

 

most of the time if i close the laptop (standby) and turn it back on again the keyboard backlight turns red. i need to quit the steelseries engine app with task manager and open it again to get it to display the colors i selected.
