I mean it'll run not-so-demanding games fine at 1080p low settings (it comes close to my GTX 765M) but don't expect amazing performance.

Game Debate says that this setup could run GTA V, Full HD, High, 11fps, but I doubt it :D

I mean, is the bottleneck very severe? The cpu seems to be bottlenecking the graphics card

There is a bottleneck, and it's kinda severe.

CPU: Intel Core i7-950 Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R CPU Cooler: NZXT HAVIK 140 RAM: Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 (1x2GB), Crucial DDR3-1600 (2x4GB), Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR3-1600 (1x4GB) GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 770 DirectCU II 2GB SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 2.5" 1TB HDDs: WD Green 3.5" 1TB, WD Blue 3.5" 1TB PSU: Corsair AX860i & CableMod ModFlex Cables Case: Fractal Design Meshify C TG (White) Fans: 2x Dynamic X2 GP-12 Monitors: LG 24GL600F, Samsung S24D390 Keyboard: Logitech G710+ Mouse: Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum Mouse Pad: Steelseries QcK Audio: Bose SoundSport In-Ear Headphones

I found an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 with an unknown motherboard as a bundle. How does that fare?

Board's very old.  Can't even support Core 2 Quads: http://www.asrock.com/MB/ATI/775Twins-HDTV R2.0/index.asp#CPU

Looks like your current C2D processor right now is the best processor you can get for this rig unless you can find an Core 2 Extreme X6800, which still does not do much in terms of performance.

I would have suggested the 771 Xeon upgrade but your board's chipset is not supported in this upgrade scenario: https://www.delidded.com/lga-771-to-775-adapter/2/

Also that RAM is quite old and small. Might want to switch to DDR2 at least.

The video card could use an upgrade to probably something that does not requires a PCIE connector and with it's lack of newer drivers it might be a good idea.

Overall, esports titles are all you can play on this setup and probably at very low settings.

CPU: Sempron 2500+ / P4 2.8E / P4 2.6C / A64 x2 4000+ / E6420 / E8500 / i5-3470 / i7-3770
GPU: TNT2 M64 / Radeon 9000 / MX 440-SE / 7300GT / Radeon 4670 / GTS 250 / Radeon 7950 / 660 Ti
