If you can find some of CaseLabs' products, those would work as well.

Beyond that, I'm not aware of a lot of cubes that have the motherboard flat...

I guess you could always take one of Corsair's cubes and stick it on its side.

I would, but people say that the open design will actually lower the cooling capability of an air cooler because it has no air movement in or out of the case, so I would have to use an AIO, which drives the price up a lot.

Don't know who's telling you that. They sound like they should be touching pc stuff.

Open design is actually better for air cooling, since the cooler has a better supply of cool air.

But that's a bust since Caselabs fell victim to Trump's tariffs in early 2018 I think it was.

Like I said, "if you can find one". Shipping is brutally expensive, though...

Wouldn't call that crazy. You are asking for specific stuff, that comes at a price. $130 is pocket change really.

The price is within my budget, but it's a bit too close for comfort, so I was wondering if there were cheaper alternatives.

It was mostly a large account default that killed them, whereas Trump's tariffs played a smaller role (though of course they didn't help.)

Outside of the Thermaltake Core X5, there really isn't anything that suits your needs. Cube cases are already a niche, and horizontal ATX cube cases are an even smaller one.

Corsair Midi Tower Carbide 540

Not really what OP's looking for, the motherboard is vertically-oriented whereas they're looking for a horizontally-oriented case. They're also expensive for how (somewhat) dated they are.

Love the 540. Looking to get a third one. Not a case I’d sit on the side like that but if it was an air cooled system I guess I could get away with it. Cost just as much as a big as x9 which even offers a tempered glass replacement.
