As per my post last week in new build planning this is going to be my first water cooled PC.  I was just wondering what you guys thought about the 360mm 45mm thick rad?

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

I would suggest listing the parts to be cooled as opposed to an old thread that may or may not contain the most up to date information and take more time for users to research and answer your question.

Looks like you'll be using a Ryzen 5 2600 and Vega 64? Should land you around a 360W (synthetically) worth of heat that needs to be dissipated.

What specific rad are you looking at? There are a few more factors than just rad size, FPI and fan RPM matters too. Most radiator manufacturers typically have some sort of graph that shows you an estimate of heat you can dissipate based on watts (W/10K) at any given RPM.

That being said, a majority of 360mm radiators backed by solid high static pressure fans at a decent RPM should be able to handle the specified components, however It would be best to know the specifics.

OK, yeah, sorry for the missed information.  The specific rad i'm looking at is:

I've not picked the fans yet was going to wait until i chose those

Watercoolinguk is a good site, ordered a lot from them. If you're overclocking then I would see if you could get another rad in your case to help keep temps low and fans running slower, so less noise.

i think it would be a bit much heat for the 360 X Flow Rad

Just not enough real estate or because it's a X flow?

See i don't have that option.  I'm using a ThermalTake Core P3

So only got room for one 360.  I MAY get a 420 in there but then i got to find a 420 X Flow

Does it need to be cross flow? As much as I prefer them for better routing and draining, if I can fit a 420 I would. Way better than a 360 in every way and 140mm fans are much better.

Here is a very detailed overview of the radiator and its performance:
https://www.xtremerigs.net/2015/02/10/alphacool-nexxxos-xt45-360mm-radiator-review/4/

The important part:

So even in a push only configuration at a 1 gallon per minute flow rate it could technically handle your system (at synthetic load) around 1800 RPM, which is a fairly high RPM. With a 1.5 GPM flow rate and push pull you could program a fan curve that keeps the fans relatively low at idle and under load with decent temperatures.

Page five of the linked review compares XT45 performance to other radiators and there are many below it and above it. Kind of a middle of the road radiator, not great, not terrible.

No problem, but like @Mick Naughty suggested a 420 will be better.

It's not quite this simple but accounting for the larger footprint the XT45 420mm would perform about as good as the 360mm push / pull with only push or pull. Going to look cleaner, should be quieter, and your case supports it.

I'll have a measure up and a think.  Did you get the rad from WCUK?

Yeah needs to be really, just to keep it neat.  I've got a couple of avenues now @Benjeh has mentioned a 420 X flow that i could look into.  The other option (which is one a came up with myself when i got the case last year) is a couple of angle brackets and have two Rads in an 'L' shape

OK, Final Thoughts.

Thanks for all your help with this i think i'm going to go with

honestly it won't matter too much which you pick, there is little to zero resistance in a xflow rad and a 420mm can pretty much cool a cpu and gpu with some nice fans. I only went overkill with mine because I like to overclock as much as I can in order to squeeze every last fps out of my system and keep it running stupidly fast.
