So a few years ago i bought this system when i had money come in, updated a few bits n pieces over time as money been available but always had trouble with system stability, hard crashes, blue screens, random shut offs etc.

I've tried everything i can think of to try n get it to run stable, i was on an 800w PSU before but upgraded to 1000w thinking power could be the problem but no.

Tried under clocking the CPU in case that was the problem but limited knowledge on the subject means i can only go so far if this is the problem.

Tried manually putting timings in for my RAM but system wouldn't even boot with the timings on the side of the DIMMs.

Any help would be much appreciated as this is driving me crazy, Money is really tight at the moment so part swaps aren't really an option :(

All i want is a stable system that will play WoW with decent frames and run as a media machine :(

Complete Parts List:
Case: NZXT Source 530 all Noctua 14mm fans

Mobo: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

CPU Cooler; Corsair H100i V2 (Previously had NZXT Kraken X62) (Kraken died and swapping made no difference.)

RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro (2x 8GB) (previously had 16gb mushkin RAM)

PSU: Corsair 1000W RM1000X (Previously had Corsair 800W, upgrade has made no difference)

Storage: 250GB DrEvo SSD, 1TB Seagate Barracuda , 4TB Seagate Barracuda

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Full specs have been added to original post. i've tried resetting the Bios, updating it, downgrading it etc, tried underclocking the CPU but think i'm missing something, didn't wanna mess with voltages without knowing what i was doing so just lowered the speed.

Also if anyone is able to jump on discord etc to help while i'm fiddling around in bios etc i have a server i can use, i'm also on skype, fb etc on my phone.

That's alright.

Ah, FX-9590...it is basically an FX-8350 with the Core Voltage cranked waaay up, so it can run at 4.7 GHz (up to 5.0 GHz Boost).

Stock voltage is like.. 1.45V ~ 1.47V ?

Can you fire up CPU-Z (or HWMonitor, or AIDA64, etc), and see what the stock Core Voltage is?

This is why I asked about CPU / Motherboard/ VRM temperatures, because 1.47V will make the VRM and socket area hot.

I find HWMonitor and AIDA64 works pretty good with monitoring temperatures for the AM3+ FX CPUs.

In HWMonitor, with a ASUS motherboards, there is actually a 'Temperatures' sub-heading, and it will have temperatures labelled as CPU, Mainboard, SB, NB, etc.

For non ASUS motherboards (e.g. Gigabyte, MSi, AsRock), those labels will come up as TMPIN0, TMPIN1, TMPIN2, etc, etc.

I found those are more accurate, and more in-line with temperature readings shown in the BIOS.

The temperature reading under FX-8350 -- Temperatures -- Package is will show ridiculously low temperature readings.

That is UNTIL you start stressing the CPU hard (e.g. burn test / stress test), then 'Package' temperature will eventually match the 'CPU' temperature reading.

If you let the CPU sit idle in BIOS, what temperature does it show within BIOS?

The Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 uses a 8+2 VRM system -- like the Crosshair V Formula -- and officially supports the FX-9590, so you should be okay.

The problem is, using a liquid cooler COOLS the actually CPU better, but can cause the socket region, and the VRMs to run hotter -- due to less airflow over them.

Windows Task Manager is garbage at picking up proper DRAM frequency.

Again, best is to check in the BIOS.

Try again, but this time, enable DOCP (DRAM OverClock Profile), and just get the DRAM voltage to 1.5V.

DOCP should take care of the DRAM frequency setting, and the timings automatically.

FX series CPUs might not have a as robust Integrated Memory Controller (IMC), but should have no issues handling DDR3-1600 and DDR3-1866.

DDR3-2400+ ...maybe not.

Okay, nothing wrong with the GPU...just wanted to see what you are using.

Good...

Clean Windows install, so we can safely rule out buggy OS as the problem...more or less.

The power-saving features can cause some issues.

C1E, C-states, Cool 'N Quiet, etc.

We could look into that a little later.

Ok, so i knew about the 9590 being a factory OC'd 8350, i figured it out too late but i knew about it.

I've put some screenshots in from HWMonitor and included a log from Aida from a system stability test so hopefully those help some.
First screenshot is of the system just running for a bit watching Youtube.
Second screenshot is at the end of a 5min stability test with Aida64.
Stock core voltage according to the Bios is: 1.476v
Target speed is set to: 4700MHz
CPU BIOS idle temp: 48*c
Mobo BIOS idle temp:: 42*C
BIOS is also showing current Memory Frequency of 1333MHz (before changing anything)

I enabled OC Tuner as this was the only thing i could find close to DOCP, First restart failed and had to press F1 to get into the BIOS to try again, after that i just get BSOD every boot and when i go back into bios it shows it's trying to run the CPU @ 5.1GHz and the RAM is @ 1449MHz i revert it back manually to 4.7GHz and the RAM goes back to 1333MHz automatically, also sometimes the system won't boot with both my DP monitor & HDMI TV plugged in at the same time, Remove the HDMI cable and it'll boot :s

C1E is Disabled, Cool'n'Quiet is Disabled, only onthing thing thats enabled so far is Core C6 State, Also Turbo CORE technology is Disabled as well.

I'm also using an NZXT Source 530 case with the CPU cooler in the top at the back with the fans exhausting, would i be better of changing them and the rear case fan to pull cool air inward over the VRM's?

Really dunno where to go from here tbh, hope you have some ideas lol.

Your CPU, when all cores are at 100% load, is reaching up to 64°C. The Core Voltage is going up to as high a 1.488V. this all makes sense.

You would usually just have to set 'Ai Overclock Tuner' to [DOCP]. Then, just underneath, the 'DRAM OC Profile' setting will appear. This setting would be hidden otherwise. You should then be able to select the XMP profile stored on your DRAM sticks.

Here are some screenshots from my ASUS Corsshair V Formula motherboard.

fJElm9Hh.png

rEqZP6Eh.png

The 'Memory Frequency' setting further down in the BIOS menu should not need to be touched.

Sorry, some of the settings in the screenshots are not at stock/auto because, the CPU (FX-8350) was also manually overclocked to 4.8GHz at the time.

Yes, use Profile #0.

Double check the DRAM voltage...it should be 1.50V...not sure why it has 1.30V in the XMP profile there.

Keep a close eye on CPU temperatures, especially when the freezing happens.

Is your CPU still being overclock to 5.1GHz -- or anything different from stock 4.7GHz?

200 MHz x 42 = 4.2 GHz?

Is the voltage still on Auto?

I'd hate to say this, but the FX-9590 *might* not be 100% stable at 4.7 GHz (5.0 GHz Boost) with RAM running at DDR3-1866.

The factory "overclock", and the combination of DDR3-1866 might be too hard on the Integrated Memory Controller (IMC).

Another thing you could try is 4.7 GHz with DDR3-1600, using the same XMP memory timings, and 1.50V.

Or...say 4.5 or 4.6 GHz with DDR3-1866.
