Uninterruptible Power Supply

1.- What do you look for when picking one?

-enough wattage

-enough runtime

-pure sinewave output, particularly if you PSU isn't great

-a variety of other smaller factors depending how much time you want to spend researching

2.- What's the most reliable brand for UPS?

Probably one you won't be buying.  As for the common desktop ones, CyberPower and APC are common.  I tend to think APC is better but I'm not sure.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Get one that has some kind of signal when it switches on as well. You don't want to be blissfully unaware of a power outage, and continue happily using whatever you need the UPS for until it dies.

Good advice, but probably not something that will eliminate a lot of options.  On mine, even with my very closed headphones on and music playing relatively loudly, I can hear the relay kick on.  But, if that wasn't enough, the loud beeping every few seconds certainly would be, and I think this is a feature any good one would have.  They also offer the ability to connect to a program on your computer which depending how it works could notify you, or automatically hibernate to avoid a improper shutdown, etc.

I have the 600 W PFC model.  I think it's good, but I'm no expert on these.  Personally I'm still weary of non-sine wave models but it can be fine depending on the situation.

Another question, is it safe to use on rainy days?

I don't see why it shouldn't be.  Just don't put the unit in the rain directly xD
