Ubuntu Flickering Display

I was installing Ubuntu 18.04.1 on my Asus Zenbook S UX391U (Intel i7-8550U, 16G RAM, 512G NVMe SSD, Intel iGPU) alongside Windows 10, during the installation, I noticed a large amount of flickering as if a display cable was not plugged in properly. The words on screen was almost unreadable. The flickering continued after the installation was finished. The screen is competly fine in Windows starts flickering as soon as I switch back to Ubuntu. I thought it was the drivers but Intel claims that the newest drivers comes with Ubuntu. Also tried reinstalling but no luck. Any suggestions?

ubuntu uses an old kernel by default. that might have something to do with it. 

 

are you familiar with Linux at all?

Not really, I only know some basic stuff

ok... can you check if the resolution and refresh rate are ok in display settings?

Seems like a driver issue, I would try a newer distro just to be sure. Try the Ubuntu beta (just on live) http://releases.ubuntu.com/18.10/

3840*2160 @ 60Hz

Tried that, also tried Arch Linux, and an older version of Ubuntu. All had the same problem. Debian worked though, but I don't want to use Debian

That's because Debian is probably using the vesa graphics, try booting with nomodeset
