I am going to be building a new rig in November buying parts between now and cyber monday. I have already created a list of parts.

But I would like to get some feedback on pretty much anything about it.

There is no SSD listed because I already own one.

If you have any suggestions for me here is some info to help.

- My budget is about $1700 USD

- I want to play games at high framerates (144Hz) in 1080p and probably 2k once I pick up one. I am also thinking about 4k @60Hz but not sure if it's worth it for me yet.

- I am also going to college for software engineering and will use this PC for my work.

- I currently have 1 monitor 1080p @144Hz but I am currently looking for a ultra wide 2k(1440p) @144Hz.

- I do not need any other peripherals.

- I am upgrading because I have played games in the past at 144Hz and the buttery smoothness is amazing but now I want to play on max settings possibly 2k but to me FPS is more important than quality.

- I plan to overclock either towards the end of this new PC's life or when I need extra performance for 144Hz.

If you are wondering what my current rig has here is a list. There is no case listed because it was a prebuilt.

Thank you for reading this far and any suggestions or feedback are appreciated.

List looks good, but the only change I would recommend is waiting till November/December when Intel's 9th gen chips drop. The equivalent of the 8600k, which is the 9600k, is set to retail at ~$262, so it should be worth the wait. This probably will mean you will have to pick out a new motherboard that is compatible with the chip, but I do not know yet

PC: CPU: i5-9600k - CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 - GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 XT 8GB GDDR6 - Motherboard: ASRock - Z370 Extreme4 - RAM: Team - T-Force Delta RGB 16 GB DDR4-3000 - PSU: Corsair - TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply - Case: Thermaltake - Core G21 TG

Oh yeah you're right. I totally forgot about that even after I watched today's TechLinked. I am going to wait for that. Thank you.

Thank you for your suggestion. I do believe that the combination of the items you listed are odd. Specifically the budgeting for each part. Examples: You are spending just as much for a case as you are a processor and I can't justify paying $200 for a case but maybe I'm missing something about it. The graphics card takes up about 32% of the budget. I find it is usually better to have it near 40% of the budget. I am trying to get the best graphics card I can and build around that. I am also leaning toward Intel because they have 6-Core processors now too and Intel CPUs are usually better for games. I also believe M.2 SSDs are not worth it yet you pay double the price of SATA for a negligible amount noticeable benefits especially because those benefits do not effect me too much considering taking 3 seconds off a load time in my game is not a priority. Not a bad build though, but for my goal of FPS, aesthetics and load times are not a priority.

Ah, sorry. I edited this on top of a build I had made for a friend who wanted his stuff to like nice above all else. If you want a nice case, go for the S340 Elite. If you remove the case and replace with the S340 Elite, a very nice case, the GPU will be proportionally a higher amount of the budget. Intel CPU performance is games over AMD is negligible, and if you opt for the Ryzen 7 2700X instead, you'll see better performance and life time for the computer with the 8 additional threads comparable to the i7 9700K. As for M.2/PCIE SSDs, they can be more than "not noticeable" in performance. The SSD listed is a Samsung, but you can get a 275GB M.2 SSD from Crucial for the same or even lower cost. then a SATA SSD from the same brand
