Hello!

First, I want to thank anyone in advance who is able to give me some advice on the situation I am having.

I work for a student facing design department for a university and am attempting to solve issues our videographer is experiencing while using Premiere Pro. For some background info, we used to be on Macs but switched to PCs at our IT departments request due to lots of network storage permission issues that were making our lives hell on a daily basis. I actually prefer PCs so I was more than happy to make that move. IT's solution was to purchase Dell Precision Desktops for us with Xeon W-2145, 32GB of ram, GTX 1080, and 512GB NVMe SSD. This did solve our permission issues.

Now, we are having a new issue, whenever our videographer works on video projects with resources on a NAS (direct 10gb Ethernet, 8 drive with 2 ssd cache) or external USB enclosure it sometimes works for 10 minutes then gets bogged down and goes unresponsive. Sometimes premiere doesn't even get everything loaded before it flat lines. In addition, when it is working, as briefly as that may be, the timeline performance is poor at best and it is almost unusable. So far the only support that adobe has given us is to say that they don't support use of the network storage unless we have an enterprise license, and to try clearing the cache.

Has anyone experienced similar issues and been able to get it fixed?

Thanks so much for any advice!
