I'm trying to build a pc for around $500 that is competent at running medium intensity games (mostly overwatch and r6) are the parts I picked good enough for that and will it be better than an Xbox 1s? I don't want 4k 120 fps gaming or whatever, just nice looking simple gameplay

(P.S I know most of the parts are alright, I'm really just worried about the quality of the graphics card. Also, I already have a case and my friend is willing to give me a 320 GB SSD but I'd rather buy my own if it's within budget)

If your friend's willing to give you an ssd like that, take it lol.

 

Get a b350 board. Asrock b350's are around the same price as the msi a320 you've chosen and comes with more features, most importanly overclocking.

 

Though that system probably won't pull anything close 300W, I'd be more comfortable if you got a corsair cx550.

can still reallocate some budget. Is it an mATX case? If yes then need to change the motherboard. Does it have to use SFX PSU? Otherwise need to change PSU as well.

 

 

2200G: Same CPU performance as 1200, but lower price and debug graphics just in case there's an emergency.

Mobo: All but A320 allows overclocking. Got one good enough to confidently overclock 6 core CPUs without worrying about VRMs. MSI as a brand doesnt have the best customer service, but brands that have good customer service cost more to buy from in the first place.

Memory: High frequency is important for Ryzen, especially considering the price difference.

SSD: A400 is one of the slowest SSDs you can find. SU800 or Crucial's BX500 is much better. SU800 does offer a bit more capacity, so I chose it.

Graphics card: Cost less, yet a level faster (RX570 is much closer to GTX 1060 3gb than 1050ti). No reason to skip it.

PSU: While you only need 250w to power this system, those are badly made. I chose the cheapest one with decent build quality and 5 year warranty, not those about as cheap, but 3 year warranty ones. Modular cables help staying tidy, especially in smaller cases.

Problem with just taking the SSD is that I already owe him money and he'll find some way for me to pay him back later (no fun). I chose the 300W because PCPartPicker said I'd need around 215W so i just went above to be safe

That's really helpful, thank you! The case I planned to use was the Thermaltake - Versa H15 MicroATX but I haven't actually committed/ paid money for it yet so I'm fine looking for another case
