Temps too high

Mr.Wolf12

Recently everytime i star to play a game my gpu its 90c. It only comes down when i open msi afterburner. Even on hot summers day it didnt get this hot, the max temp was 80c. I don't know if the problem is related to the drivers or is the gpu.

The gpu is the MSI RX480 (https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/Radeon-RX-480-GAMING-X-8G.html).

It's probably because Twin Frozr is an MSI cooling design, which all suck except for the Duke lineup. However, when was the last time you cleaned the card? There could be some nasty dust buildup.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

uh. no. the Twin Frozr cooler is actually one of the best, with the STRIX and ICX 3-fan.

It's the best 2 fan cooler.

the duke is meh. it has a regular PCB and the fans are small.

MSI autoupdate pushed new drivers out this month that gave people overheating problems.

Take a look at your drivers and see if anything was pushed out to your computer. See if the date matches when temp increases started.

I had a Twin Frozr 100 million edition that couldn't handle a 100 MHz bump (silicon lottery loser, I know), it sagged so much for having such average cooling. Twin Frozr cards are just so heavy.

It appear that the problem might be the wattman software of amd that doesnt work. I'm using the optional driver that is the most recent one but they also have a recommend one that is a little older, maybe i'll try that one to see if the problem persists.
